Baico Publishing first began operations in 1997 in Gatineau, Quebec. To accommodate its growth, the company eventually relocated to Ottawa, Canada's beautiful and picturesque capital. The company's founder, Raymond Coderre, has over 40 years of experience in the printing and publishing industry. He operates a publishing house that is unique by virtue of the services it offers and the quality of th

e relationship it builds with its authors. Baico's reputation for excellence is based on its integrity, the accessibility of its key players and its willingness to support authors. Baico's mission is to publish unknown writers who would not have an opportunity to publish their work otherwise and to help them reap financial rewards that are greater than what the industry usually offers. Baico helps authors implement innovative marketing and sales techniques not generally seen in the publishing world so as to attract the appropriate readers to their work. Baico looks forward to developing a personal relationship with its authors and hopes to make a difference in their lives and in those of their readers throughout the world.

Happy Birthday to the man behind Baico Publishing, Raymond! 🎂📚

For decades, Ray’s passion for books, belief in authors, and commitment to helping Canadian writers share their stories have shaped Baico into what it is today.

Those of us who know Ray know that Baico has never been just a business to him. It has always been about the people, the stories, and giving writers an opportunity to see their words become something they can hold in their hands.

Today, we celebrate the person who started it all. ❤️

Happy Birthday, Ray! Wishing you good health, happiness, and many more chapters ahead.

Every story has a place. The world doesn’t need another copy. It needs your unique perspective. The most powerful stories aren’t written to sound like everyone else’s; they’re written with honesty, courage, and your authentic voice. The story only you can tell might be the one someone else needs to read.

What if resilience isn’t about simply getting through hard times—but about transforming because of them?

In Raising Fire: Igniting Resilience and Becoming Whole, Lee-Ann F. O’Brien draws on her lived experience as an Indigenous woman, trauma survivor, senior police leader, and resilience coach to explore what it means to rebuild from the inside out.

Through personal stories, reflection, and practical tools, she challenges the idea that resilience is about being unbreakable. Instead, she invites readers to embrace honesty, healing, and growth—finding strength not in perfection, but in purpose.

Raising Fire is a powerful reminder that we are not defined by what happened to us. We can reclaim our identity, rediscover our voice, and rise stronger, wiser, and more whole than before.

One of the things I’ve learned in more than four decades in publishing is that books are built on trust.

Trust between an author and a publisher is every bit as important as the manuscript itself. Authors are sharing something deeply personal their ideas, experiences and creativity. A publisher has the responsibility to respect that vision while providing honest guidance, professional expertise, and unwavering support throughout the journey.

When I founded Baico Publishing in 1997, my goal wasn’t simply to publish books. I wanted to create a publishing house where authors felt welcomed, supported, and genuinely heard. Nearly three decades later, that commitment remains at the heart of everything we do.

Publishing can be a complex industry, especially for new and emerging authors. That’s why we’ve always believed in accessibility, collaboration, and personal connection. We work closely with our authors, answer questions, provide guidance, and build relationships that often extend well beyond a single book.

A book’s journey is rarely a straight line. It requires patience, communication, and mutual trust. When authors and publishers work together with a shared vision, the result is something far greater than a finished book, it’s a partnership built on respect and a common goal of bringing stories to readers.

It’s that time of year! ✍️📚

The Grow A Writer 2026 Contest is officially open!

Baico Publishing, in partnership with The National Capital Blues Foundation and Ottawa Police Blues FC is proud to once again present Grow A Writer, a youth writing contest designed to celebrate creativity, build confidence, and give young voices a platform to be heard.
Following the success of previous years, with more than 50 young writers published, this meaningful community initiative continues to inspire the next generation of storytellers. We believe creativity, storytelling, and self-expression play an important role in a young person’s development, and Grow A Writer provides an exciting opportunity for aspiring authors to share their imagination with the world.
Whether it’s an adventure, mystery, fantasy, or a story from the heart, we want to read your story.

📖 Open to students ages 8–18
✍️ Submit an original short story
🏆 50 finalists will be selected for publication in a printed short story compilation
📅 Submission deadline: August 10, 2026

Through Grow A Writer, we aim to provide a platform for young voices to be heard, celebrated, and shared with the community. Each selected participant will receive a printed copy of the anthology, and proceeds from book sales will support youth-focused initiatives and scholarships.

If you’re waiting for the perfect time, the perfect draft, or the perfect words, consider this your reminder: your story matters now.

Write the chapter.
Revise the page.
Submit the manuscript.

Because the stories that change lives only do so when they’re shared.
