The past wasn’t the simpler, gentler time we sometimes imagine.

For many women, “traditional” life meant poverty, limited choices, relentless work and simply trying to survive. So why are we so drawn to romanticizing it now?

Find out in this new episode of Kind of Bold Podcast.

What if the changes you’re experiencing aren’t “just stress”, but perimenopause?

At 42, I’m in this transition myself, and I’ve learned just how much confusion, misinformation and dismissal still surrounds it.

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Tanya Kelloway, Acupuncturist and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner, and Dr. Melissa Reinke, Chiropractor and Menopause Society Certified practitioner, to unpack what’s actually happening during perimenopause

We talk HRT, self-advocacy, whole-body care, and why it’s time to stop treating menopause as something women simply have to endure.

Wait, is this perimenopause? From fertility to wisdom — out August 29 on Kind of Bold Podcast.

When Stacey May Fowles reached out and offered to send me her book about motherhood, infertility, and the worry and work demanded of women, I immediately said yes. I just didn't know I'd end up loving it this much.

It felt like it had been written for me in so many ways: from her honest portrayal of health anxiety to the impossible tension of loving your child with your whole heart while also longing for freedom and bodily autonomy.

I didn't experience infertility myself, but Stacey has a remarkable way of inviting you into her story until parts of it become your own. That's the mark of truly great writing.

I will have the honour of welcoming Stacey soon on the podcast. 📚

As Little House on the Prairie is finding a new audience, it's worth asking: what are we really nostalgic for? The dresses and homemade bread; or the reality women endured?

In this episode, historical fiction author Lise Mayne separates the romanticized version of the past from the lives women actually lived, and why understanding that history matters today.

The "tradwife" fantasy often romanticizes the past, but what did life actually look like for the women who came before us?

In this clip, author Lise Mayne shares the reality behind the nostalgia: a life shaped by hardship, survival, and unimaginable loss. It's a powerful reminder that the resilience we admire today was often born from necessity, not choice.

Everyone needs a Lise Mayne in their life.

Talking with Lise about her book Time Enough and the lives of early 20th-century pioneer women was such a gift.

Lately, it feels like we're seeing a growing fascination with "traditional" womanhood. From the tradwife trend to romanticized images of pioneer life, social media often paints the past as simpler, and somehow better.

But was it? What did life actually look like for the women who came before us?

In this deeply personal episode, Lise and I also talk about the mothers and grandmothers who shaped us, and the wisdom, resilience, and stories they passed down to us and, in turn, to our children.
