This photo appears in our article published today, covering the 2025 Duck Race fundraiser for the Oxford and Area Community Centre, but we felt it important to make special mention of The Church Mouse Players.

The Church Mouse Players began in 1995 with a small group of dedicated volunteers who were interested in starting a family friendly community theatre. The group holds two productions per year: one in the spring and another in the fall, out of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #36.

This registered non-profit theatre society is made up entirely of volunteers and is always actively trying to recruit new talents, whether it is by participating on the stage or behind the scenes.

The group has also always been known for giving back to the community over the years providing over $65,000 to various local community and youth projects.

This latest donation of $1100, to the Oxford and Area Community Center comes from the CMP's Spring production, "Murder at the Orient Express."

Stay tuned for news of the group's upcoming show!

A wonderful way to support a longstanding community event (and get a free pass too!)

We are still looking for some volunteers to help out with gates on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday shifts available. These shifts are 2 hours each, and volunteering provides a full week pass. For students needing volunteer letters, we can provide a letter and/or reference.
As a non profit, volunteers help make community events happen! It allows us to invest more into the exhibition, and the grounds.

If you’ve reached out previously, please reach out again. As a fully volunteer board, things get a little hectic and we apologize for missing you!

Many families in Cumberland County had relatives who served —and sacrificed— during World War II with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders.

The home of the NNSH museum at the Amherst Armouries is (yet again) threatened. Currently off-limits ti the public and even the curators, this essential local history resource deserves a better fate.
