It’s that time of year again! Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on Sunday, November 2nd as we “fall back” for the end of Daylight Savings Time. Enjoy an extra hour of sleep and brighter mornings as we transition into the cozier fall season!

📅 When?

Jayme Redmond (nee Flexhaug) grew up in the small Okanagan town of Osoyoos, with a love of books filling many of her days early on and throughout her childhood. After graduation from Osoyoos Secondary School, she furthered her interest in literature by pursuing post-secondary studies in Vancouver and worked there in a library for many years. Now living in Summerland, Jayme has just authored her first children's picture book entitled 'Pride and Prejudice: An Austen Adventure.' Jayme teams with gifted Summerland illustrator Dea Bean to produce this delightful adaptation of Jane Austen's long popular and much lauded 1813 novel 'Pride and Prejudice.'

The picture book is presented in rhyming text and can be purchased by following the below link to amazon.ca

Tomorrow is Orange Shirt Day - a day of remembrance, reflection, and learning. We come together to honour the survivors of the residential school system, the children who never made it home, and the families and communities who continue to feel these impacts today.

The Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre will be open from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm, with free admission for Indigenous people. Guided tours of our indoor gallery will be offered throughout the day, while our trail remains open to be self-guided.

In our theatre, throughout the day we will be showing ‘Survivors of the Red Brick School’ (2001), produced by the Osoyoos Indian Band. This moving film also stands as the final tribute to Virg Baptiste, whose tireless advocacy for residential school survivors remains part of her lasting legacy.

🧡 Every Child Matters.
