Whatever is going on in our lives or hearts right now, may we receive the rest Jesus paid such a price for us to have. And if we’re feeling this peace that surpasses all understanding, perhaps we pray about how we can be a listening ear or offer a kind word to someone in our lives - or even a stranger.

Reflecting a little because… I was excited to see Hayden’s name on my news app this morning as I loved Nashville (the show), was so amazed at how so much talent could be in one person, and thought maybe she’d announced a new project… only to be shocked by her passing. Praying for peace, for her and her loved ones, and for people in our lives who may be struggling in open or hidden ways. We can’t control outcomes but we can pray and love.

Not a super articulate post, but just wanted to connect and encourage us to always fix our eyes on the Lord. Even when things don’t seem to make sense, Jesus is near. 🤍

It’s August which, despite humid summer temperatures, means my head is already way into fall. Yes, there are summer sales going on, but — with the slight exception of purchasing a few items for an upcoming island vacation — my head is firmly into interestingly cut sweaters, funnel-neck bombers, and cool belts.

Maybe you’re feeling similarly right now. Whether life is going as you’ve long hoped it would or you’re still in a waiting season, I think we like envisioning our future lives because it feels like it brings clarity as well as hope. When we’ve had a frustrating week at work for example, how wonderful it can be to escape into our idealistic Substack / Instagram / Whatever world where we can design the lives of our dreams.

Is this bad?

🎧 New this week ‘How to “Level Up” and Get God’s “Dream Life” for You’

Craving a rebrand — or a life touch-up? Impatience can make us start planning out how to level up and get our dream lives, but before we get started, let’s remember to involve God in the process. We want the God of the Universe in every detail, amen? Listen on for stories of past rebrands, thoughts on curveball chapters and tests, and how to keep trusting that God truly has the life he knows we’re craving in store — if we’d only give him the pen.

Listen on Substack, Spotify, or Apple Podcasts.

Thanking God that we can live life through this filter of knowing he reigns and is in control. May we remember life on earth is temporary and one day Jesus will come back and we’ll be with him for eternity. May we keep our lamps oiled and our hearts close to him. There’s loads of distractions but may we choose him and be community for each other reminding of his better ways. Sending love this Saturday morning. May we enjoy sabbath this weekend with the Lord :)

*Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

Kinda chic things this week, plus reflections and recs after a weekend in Stratford. 💗

I’ll always have a soft spot for Stratford. My uni bff was from here and got married here. She introduced me to Balzacs and Rheo Thompson (mint smoothies forever) and I still love both places. Sweet memories aside, when I travel, in addition to food, I prioritize the arts and Stratford’s theatre is the best in the country. This trip, my friends and I went over the August long weekend and a surprising number of the independent f&b places were closed, even on the main strip, but that just means another trip needs to happen (and it’s so easy to get to now with the GO and is just $10). Still wanting to try LOVAGE Elizabeth. , and The Ashborne Cafe. And see Othello!

Where we stayed: Foster's Inn Restaurant/Lounge
Where we ate: Mercer Kitchen|Beer Hall|Hotel Fellini’s Stratford Rheo Thompson Candies
Where we coffeed: The Livery Yard Balzac's Coffee
What play we watched: Something Rotten Stratford Festival
What game we played: Not Just Sundays
What shop we loved: WILLS & PRIOR
How we got there: GO from Union to Stratford (then an easy 10 min walk to the heart of downtown)

Ps. If your favourite spot hasn’t been mentioned, pls lmk! Would love recs and any stories you have about why they’re special to you :)

Chewing on this verse today and the concept of being “satisfied.” There’s external factors for sure but it’s also a decision, isn’t it? God can always satisfy any craving we might have, but not always in the ways we want or think he should.

And we’ve all had those moments when we get even a taste of what we think we want and realize it’s not it.

Praying that we don’t waste time seeking satisfaction in things we are curious about because the world says we should be but know in our spirit won’t hit.

Praying also that God gives us the wisdom and strength to choose his better way in all the ways we need to daily.

We’re continuing to build our foundation in the Lord for this season and beyond. May we look to him for satisfaction, for direction, and trust he is writing an incredible story.

It’ll always be the best thing to choose God. I’ve tried it the opposite way and allow me to remind you and save you some time: whether it has to do with obeying a godly principle or avoiding sin, even when it seems annoying or boring, trust him. And don’t forget to testify, there will be opportunities. Pass on the hope you have. 💗

Feeling inspired by the generosity of others lately, of so many who welcome, encourage, and show love freely—like it’s natural! May it be natural, for God’s light to shine through us and for him to get the glory. Saying a prayer for our friendships and relationships. ♥️

A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. (Proverbs 11:25)
