A woman who was shot in the face after a failed robbery attempt, has received a five year prison sentence.
Marissa Bird appeared Friday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
The offense occurred in May of last year. At the time, Bird was on probation, having just completed a seven and a half year sentence for manslaughter. Brett Ledoux was shot in the head. Read MORE at pa now , ,

Some new doors have opened for the Elders at Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

Six newly built cabins will provide homes for the men.

The project idea came from late councilor Arnold Naytowhow and the total cost for 10 cabins was about one million dollars. The other four cabins are for the Elder women and are situated throughout the community. Read MORE at pa now

A sentencing hearing for a man who sparked a massive wildfire is being described as precedent setting..

In relation to last year's Ditch 2 fire, Jason Halkett has received a a six year sentence.

Noting there was no case law to use, Crown Prosecutor Robyn Ermine said the case was the first of its kind and the impact was measured in part by the loss of the forest. Read MORE at pa now

Residents travelling between Prince Albert and Saskatoon have a new bus service they can ride on.

Diamond North Express Transit officially cut the ribbon Thursday in PA to officially launch the service publically, after soft launching the service last month.

Owner Nnamdi Ndubuka said they only have the one bus and route for now, but expansion is nearing and will happen with time.

A man who allegedly threatened a taxi driver with a gun and was the reason police spent almost nine hours outside a home in Prince Albert’s West Flat on Tuesday, is now facing 13 charges.

Ethan Sanderson, 23, appeared Wednesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court and was remanded to Friday.

According to a statement provided by the Prince Albert Police Service, officers responded to the home in the 800 block of 15th Street West at 2:45a.m. They had received a report that a taxi driver had been threatened with a fi***rm while dropping off a passenger in the back alley of the residence. A couple players that fans have gotten used to seeing play for the Prince Albert Raiders have now been officially signed to the team.

This week ahead of games in Regina and Moose Jaw, the Raiders have signed forwards Malaki Martin and Eli Molde, along with defenceman Jordan Murray, to WHL Scholarship & Development Agreements.

With the signing of Murray, the Raiders have also released forward Carsyn Dyck from the team. That means the Raiders are down to their three 20-year-olds for the season between Murray, Maddix McCagherty, and Evan Smith. Read more at pa now

Final arguments in the Cody Chubey murder trial in Melfort will be heard on Thursday.

Defense counsel Peter Abrametz rested his case on Wednesday, with the accused taking the stand in the morning.

Chubey testified that he was responsible for the death of his long-time partner Danielle Dobersheck at the Carra Valla Inn in Melfort in March of 2024 but had no memory of the incident. Read more at pa now

All Saints Orthodox Church in Meadow Lake was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived early Thursday morning, Fire Chief Joe Grela said.

RCMP confirmed the church was destroyed and no one was injured. Police and emergency medical services also attended.

Fire investigators with the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire, with assistance from the local fire department.
