The Supreme Court of Canada is being asked to hear an appeal in the Bernie Herman case.

Herman, a former R-C-M-P officer from Prince Albert, was convicted of manslaughter in the 2021 death of Braden Herman.

The Crown argues the courts were wrong to allow the defence of provocation to reduce what it says should have been second-degree murder. Another option is a new trial.

The Supreme Court is expected to decide later this year whether it will hear the case.
