For our fire fighters, health and wellness are not just personal priorities. They are matters of safety, longevity, and ensuring every member goes home to their family after every shift.

Our profession demands a great deal from us. We train hard, work in extreme environments, and face physical hazards, traumatic incidents, disrupted sleep, and the cumulative stresses that come with a career of service.

As an Association, we believe protecting our members means looking beyond the fireground. It means advocating for strong physical fitness, access to mental health supports, cancer prevention and early detection, regular medical screenings, healthy lifestyles, and a culture where checking in on one another is simply what we do.

This Men’s Health Month, we encourage every fire fighter to make their health a priority. Book the appointment. Have the tough conversations. Take the time to recover. Reach out to a brother who may need support.

We spend our careers protecting our communities. Let’s make sure we are protecting ourselves and each other too. This job is one of the most rewarding but also most physically and mentally demanding careers anyone can have. Staying healthy in all aspects will ensure stronger fire fighters to serve our community and stronger family men to look after their loved ones at home.
