Rain continues across Alberta while thundershowers are popping up across central Saskatchewan. Saskatoon and Battlefords getting some rain, hopefully this slides a bit further north over the fires.

Monitoring the SSC, Supercell Composite from the 12z GFS. Starting with tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, activity will highest in southwest Manitoba. On Saturday, June 6th, the risk enters eastern Saskatchewan. Moving further southeast into the southeast corner of Saskatchewan, we see the activity reach a peak on Sunday evening. According to this new data, the chance of seeing storm in Regina is remote, everything is going around the city again. Yorkton, Dauphin, Estevan and Brandon are is the zone for the big storms for now. This data is changing every 6 hours and we will update daily how it progresses. There is also a good chance of storms in central Saskatchewan today with slightly less supercell potential, mostly gusty thundershowers.

Clouds are moving to the north west quickly, it only took five minutes for the one dark cloud to clear out. Very quick Timelapse.

7 Days Out --> Sunday June 7th, 2026
Southeast Saskatchewan
We are in the zone! The latest GFS is suggesting extreme heat to get cut off north of Regina with high end supercell potential. Previous models suggest potential supercell action June 7th to 8th and it seems to be lining up nicely so far. This could change of course and we will continue with daily updates as it becomes more clear with better data.

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 looking very active across North Dakota, possibly some big time storms with a risk of tornadoes. The GFS shows a moderate SSC while the NAM Nest is just coming in showing an elevated Supercell Composite for Tuesday afternoon in southern North Dakota especially. This will be a big storm system affecting southern Manitoba as well. Of note, the Sig Tor index is showing a lot of activity crossing the prairies over the next few days. General thundershowers across the southern prairies could produce a weak tornado at some point but there is no great risk for us whatsoever. Most of the precipitation will remain to the west, including Swift Current, Kindersley and into Alberta there will be much more rain. Regina stays windy and dry for the most part.

Chance of scattered non-severe thunderstorms today, models are in disagreement for the location. There could be storms east of Regina or west of the city. Heavier rain will fall in southwest Saskatchewan, Regina might get a trace of precipitation by 7pm. If anything, the sky should be entertaining today with lots of convective action, low precipitation type storm clouds. Tornado risk increases into this evening but it remains fairly low.

Southeast wind continues for days...
(southeast Sask)
This warm southeast wind pattern is expected to continue until at least Sunday, it was gusting over 70km/hr yesterday in Regina and we should see slightly lower numbers today, recharging back up to stronger gusts on Sunday.
Over in Alberta, the wind really picks up with the rain across the province and snow in the mountains. Calgary especially clocking in the high numbers on Sunday by noon. Its gonna get really messy in Alberta this weekend starting Saturday night. Expect to see multiple alerts issued.

Its a long ways off in the GFS but June 6-7, 2026 is the only significant activity in the Supercell Composite long range across the eastern prairies. We have been watching this develop and have low confidence that it will hold together. SSC has been blinking off and on since the 24th of May and nothing big has happened yet. The season has kicked off and the potential is now in place, its just a matter of all the ingredients coming together for a major storm outbreak to happen.
