Pictou County & North Shore — let’s get something besides groceries and appointments on this week’s calendar. 😂

Here are a few local options for **September 14–20**, whether you’re taking the kids out or getting a little time to yourself.

📍 **MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 14 — NEW GLASGOW**
Open mic hosted by Pat Walsh at **The Shoebox Cantina**, 84 Provost Street, is listed for **7:30 p.m.** A little music to break up the usual Monday routine.

📍 **SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 — TOUCH-A-TRUCK**
Have a child who points out every big truck you pass? Put this one on the list.
**New Glasgow Academy Home & School’s Touch-a-Truck**
• Pictou County Wellness Centre
• **10 a.m.–2 p.m.**
Admission details aren’t included in the listing, so check with the organizer before heading over.

📍 **SATURDAY MORNING — PICK YOUR MARKET**

**New Glasgow Farmers Market**
**9 a.m.–1 p.m.**
261 Glasgow Street. Bring your shopping bag and leave yourself time for a look around.

**Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market**
**9 a.m.–1 p.m.**
41 Creamery Road. An option for those around River John and Tatamagouche—or anyone making a morning of it along the shore.

**Pugwash Farmers’ Market**
**8:30 a.m.–1 p.m.**
10222 Durham Street. Local growers, bakers and makers, with the regular season continuing until October 10.

📍 **SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 20 — PICTOU TERRY FOX RUN**
The Town lists this year’s run at the **Marina Boardwalk on Pictou’s waterfront**, supporting cancer research.

**Confirm the start time before going:** the calendar says 11 a.m., but the event description still says “TBA.

A little budget tip: pack drinks and snacks before leaving. Somehow “we’re just going out for a bit” gets expensive when everyone’s hungry.

Check organizers’ latest updates before travelling, especially for admission, registration and weather changes.

Saturday morning in Tatamagouche ☀️

We parked on Main Street and headed down King Street to Patterson Wharf Park, where we hopped onto the Trans Canada Trail. From there, it was a beautiful, shady walk along the trail to the Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market.

The market was buzzing with people and packed with so many great vendors — fresh veggies, baked goods, clothing, baskets, preserves and all kinds of locally made finds.

We also stopped into the Boat Shop, where we had a great chat with Lisa and learned more about the shop, its history and the work they do there.

A walk on the trail, a busy farmers’ market, a little local history and plenty to explore along the way. What a fantastic Saturday morning out in Tatamagouche!

If you haven’t done this little walk before, add it to your list. It’s such a great way to spend a morning on the North Shore.
