Many lovely clients helped to make this little passion of mine come to life. Dayschool started in March and went to December, the growth I continue to see in my clients’ dogs thrills me. I knew Dayschool would be a good idea but I had NO IDEA how profound the impact would be on the regular clients who come here on Tuesdays. The results are so exciting that I have devised a way to continue to run the program through the winter.
I had planned to compete a lot more than I did in 2025 … those goals somehow got sidetracked. This year was focused on beginning to build Creative Canine Coaching. I had a litter of puppies in the spring with a special needs puppy – the first time in 12 years of breeding. Little Peanut was a tremendous blessing and touched the hearts of ALL who were lucky enough to know her. Her lessons were immense. I had NO intensions to keep a puppy … but Light stole my heart and stayed. I’m beyond thrilled with my spicy little friend.
In April, I was feeling dissatisfied with my level of understanding “ring craft” in Rally and aware that I needed help to reach future goals in Competitive Obedience. I reached out to an acquaintance – Steve Hazzelwood, a long time Obedience and Rally judge. This LUCKY impulse resulted in a HUGE gain for me and for Creative Canine Coaching – a fabulous new friend AND a co-teacher. Steve and I have been training together and have done 2 rounds of teaching classes focused on developing teams preparing to compete in Rally Obedience. We love teaching and training together. We are creating a strong curriculum and seeing fast and JOYFUL progress in our first set of students. We are excited to see where our pooled resources will take us and our students in 2026 and beyond.
I’ve LONG dreamed of building community here on Kerrs Ridge around dogs and dog training. This year -IT IS STARTING TO HAPPEN – wonderful people with brilliant dogs are turning up. 2025 feels like the “staging” year for 2026 … if that makes sense. I can hardly wait to see what the next twelve months have in store.
