🍺 LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: Caps Off Brewing Co.

What started with home brewing in the kitchen eventually became a craft brewery right here in downtown St. Thomas.

Rick and Fran Dunseith, the owners of Caps Off Brewing Co., spent years experimenting with different brewing styles and flavours before taking the leap and turning that passion into a business.

Today, Caps Off is a community-focused brewery with a cozy taproom, year-round patio and a rotating lineup of beers.

And if you're hungry while you're there, they've got that covered too — with Lumberjack Pizzas, warm Opa's Pretzels and Carmichael's meats available in-house.

Plus, their patio is dog-friendly. So apparently even your dog gets to participate in the craft beer scene. 🐶🍺

Your page isn't a bulletin board.

If every post is just “SPECIAL TONIGHT!!!” followed by a flyer, a time, and six exclamation points… eventually people stop seeing it.

Social media gives you something a traditional flyer can't: a conversation.

Ask questions. Show personality. Tell stories. Let people see the humans behind the business.

If you've spent any time around downtown St. Thomas, there's a pretty good chance you've heard of Bella Jacks.

Established in 2004, Bella Jacks has been serving up Mexican favourites on Talbot Street for more than two decades — from their famous chimichangas to enchiladas, tacos, nachos and quesadillas. And yes, there are margaritas involved. 🍹

It's the kind of local spot that has become part of the downtown food scene rather than simply another place to grab a meal.

Ever wonder what happens before a social media post actually gets posted?

It’s not just:

“Hey, we should post something today.”

At Bonfire Social, we start with a much more important question:

“Why would someone stop scrolling for this?”

Then we start thinking about the people we're trying to reach.

What do they care about?
What would make them laugh?
What would make them hungry?
What would make them curious?
What would make them think, “Okay… I need to check this place out.”

Because a post can look fantastic and still accomplish absolutely nothing.

And we'd rather create something that gets noticed, remembered, and acted on than something that simply fills a space on the page.

That's the part you don't always see.

The post is the finished product.

The thinking behind it is where the work really happens. 🔥

One thing we’ve noticed while building Bonfire Social:

A lot of local businesses are doing way more than their social media makes it look like.

Great food.
Packed events.
Live music.
Specials.
Regulars who practically have their own table.

But online?

Sometimes it’s just a picture of the special with:

“Come check us out!”

…and then silence for six days. 😅

That’s one of the reasons Bonfire Social exists.

We believe your social media should feel like an extension of your business — not a chore you remember exists every Tuesday night at 11:47 PM.
