The Maple Unit Unit #287 remains as the only female veteran's unit in Canada under the Dominion Command of the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Association. Its first meeting was held on 21 October 1946 and the Unit received its Charter in an impressive ceremony in Saskatoon on 10 April 1947. ded to have a time and place to meet and reminisce during their rehabilitation and discharge from the services. Today, the social aspect of the group remains a strong focal point and the Unit is comprised of a diverse group of women of all ages representing all three elements with varying trades and experiences. Any current ANAVET member may also be a member of this Unit and new Members meeting the criteria established in the Dominion Bylaws are welcome, with the exception that you must be a woman as this is a Ladies Unit.
