It was a great opportunity to meet today with the honourable leader of the Ontario NDP Marit Stiles to discuss local challenges and opportunities.

This included:

1. The impacts of homelessness, mental health, and addictions on our downtown and Main Street businesses as well as looking at successful housing/support strategies that could be considered for Sault Ste. Marie and other regional communities.

2. Collaboratively proposing a framework for a plan/strategy to police and crack down on illegal drug and human trafficking that are plaguing Sault Ste. Marie and northern communities.

3. Addressing the need for the expansion of Northern Ontario highways and the benefits related to safety and quality of life in that investment.

4. Consideration for provincial support related to infrastructure projects and small business. In particular, financial relief for businesses impacted by municipal or provincial construction that result in decreased traffic to affected businesses.
