Scarborough students are putting AI to work on real healthcare challenges. 🤖🏥

Through Scarborough Health Network’s Summer of Vibes program, young innovators worked in teams to develop AI-powered ideas aimed at improving patient communication, medical training, and clinical care.

From making complicated discharge instructions easier to understand to creating virtual patients for medical training, these students are showing how the next generation could help shape the future of healthcare right here in Scarborough.

Meet Maple — the Toronto Zoo’s adorable new arrival! 🦛🍁

Born on August 2, the baby pygmy hippo has already captured attention with her playful personality, love of shallow pools, and impressive early growth. Maple is currently bonding with her mother, Kindia, while getting ready for her eventual public debut.

Beyond the cuteness, Maple’s arrival also highlights important conservation work for pygmy hippos, an endangered species with only a few thousand estimated to remain in the wild.

A faster commute is coming to Scarborough. 🚌

The new Scarborough Busway is set to open on September 30 — six months ahead of schedule. The 4-km route will use part of the former Line 3 corridor to connect Kennedy Station and Scarborough Town Centre, with the TTC estimating a trip of about 15 minutes and time savings of roughly seven minutes compared with the current on-street service.
