This year's Sherwood Park Highland Gathering nearly doubled in attendance over the previous year.
The July 22/23 weekend saw more than 13,000 attendees, exhibitors, volunteers and participants at Broadmoor Lake Park. It also collected almost $1,000 in cash donations and almost 2,000 pounds of non-perishables for the local food bank.

This year's YEGPIN Pinball and Arcade Expo hosted at Millennium Place from Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, July 23 offered more than 250 pinball and arcade machines to the public and professional players.

"The homeowner heard a loud crack at approximately at 1:15 a.m. and the power went off to his house immediately. He looked out the kitchen window and noticed he had some fire on the roof of the structure east of his house, with smoke billowing along the roof line and that’s when he called 911."

The roof of a cabin in rural Strathcona County went up in flames after a lightning strike during the early morning hours on Sunday.
