she’s not just my best friend, she’s my sister🤍

she’s family in every way that matters.
the person i can call when life is amazing
when life is falling apart
or when i just need someone who understands without me having to explain a thing.

we may not share the same blood
but we share memories
laughter
tears
hard days
celebrations
and a bond that i wouldn’t trade for anything.

she’s been there through the messy parts
the beautiful parts
and everything in between.

she’s someone i trust with my heart
my family
and the pieces of me that i don’t show everyone.

some people come into your life as friends, but somehow become so much more.

she’s my best friend.
she’s my sister.
she’s my family.
and i’ll forever be grateful that life gave me her. 🤍

going out alone doesn’t take away from who you are as a parent.

you can go for coffee alone.
you can go shopping alone.
you can have dinner with friends.
you can spend a night out laughing
dancing
getting dressed up
or simply enjoying a little peace and quiet.

and none of that makes you love your children any less.

you are allowed to exist outside of motherhood.
you are allowed to have hobbies
friendships
plans
and moments where nobody is calling mom every five seconds.

taking time for yourself doesn’t mean you’re choosing yourself over your children.
it means you’re remembering that you are a whole person still, while also being their parent.

your kids don’t need a parent who completely disappears into the role of motherhood.

they need a parent who is happy
fulfilled
rested
and still knows who they are.

so go out.
have fun.
make memories that don’t involve snacks
bedtime routines
or wiping someone’s face.

you can still miss your kids while still enjoying your time away from them.

but both things can be true🤍

there’s something so wild to me about watching your child experience the same little joys that made your childhood special🥹

watching them pick out the candy you used to beg your parents for.
seeing their excitement over the same little treats that you thought were the best thing in the world.

or watching them play with the toys you grew up with.
the toys that sat in your childhood bedroom.
the ones you spent hours playing with.
the ones you never thought would mean anything again.

except now, they’re in your child’s hands.

and suddenly you’re not just watching your child play with a toy or eat a piece of candy

you’re watching a tiny version of yourself experience a piece of your childhood.

the candy you loved.
the toys you couldn’t put down.
the games you played for hours.
the little things that made ordinary days feel magical.

it’s such a strange and beautiful feeling watching your child fall in love with things from a generation that feels like it was just yesterday.

parenthood really is watching your childhood happen all over again, except this time you get to experience it through their eyes.

there’s nothing sweeter than that🥹🤍

i don’t believe children need to be entertained non stop.

they don’t need an activity every second.
they don’t need a screen handed to them the second they say i’m bored.
they don’t need a parent constantly solving their problems.

sometimes i’m bored can just mean… be bored.

go outside.
make something.
read.
play.
use your imagination.
figure it out.

and no, i’m not saying ignore your kids or never play with them.
i’m saying it’s okay for children to learn that not every uncomfortable feeling needs to be immediately fixed by an adult.

boredom isn’t an emergency.

sometimes it’s where creativity starts.

before having children date nights were something you did when you had extra time.

now we know they’re something you make time for.

not because our relationship is falling apart.
not because we need to escape our kids.
but because the person i chose deserves more than conversations about groceries, bills, and who’s picking up the next shift of parenting.

parenthood changes you.
it stretches you.
some days it leaves you so exhausted that sitting on the couch feels like the biggest accomplishment.

but in the middle of raising little humans, it’s easy to forget to keep growing your relationship.

the kids won’t remember every date night we had.

but they’ll remember growing up in a home where love was nurtured
where affection was normal
where two people kept choosing each other through every season.

so yes,
we’ll find the sitter.
we’ll make the reservation.
we’ll sneak away for a couple of hours.

because one day our children will build lives of their own and when that happens
i still want to look across the table and see my favourite person smiling back at me.

the best gift we can give our children isn’t perfect parenting.

it’s showing them what it looks like to never stop dating the person you love🤍

somewhere along the way, i forgot who i was.

i became who everyone needed me to be.
i poured into everyone else’s cup until mine was completely empty.
i carried the weight
smiled when i didn’t feel like smiling
and convinced myself that surviving was the same thing as living.

but healing has a funny way of changing you.

it isn’t loud.
it isn’t instant.
it’s choosing yourself on the days you don’t feel worth choosing.
it’s setting boundaries without apologizing.
it’s learning that peace feels better than proving a point.
it’s forgiving yourself for the version of you that was just trying to survive.

i’m finding pieces of myself i thought i’d lost forever.

the girl who laughed without forcing it.
the one who dreamed without fear.
the one who knew she deserved kindness
especially from herself.

i’m still healing.
i still have hard days.
i still carry scars that people can’t see.

but for the first time in a long time, i don’t feel like i’m just existing.

i’m becoming someone i recognize again.

not the person i was before life changed me.

someone stronger.
someone softer.
someone wiser.

someone who finally understands that healing isn’t about going back to who you were, it’s about becoming someone you’ll be proud to meet.

there are people who come into your life
and then there are people who become your home.

my best friend isn’t just someone i laugh with.
she’s the person who has seen every version of me
the broken one
the healing one
the exhausted mom
the one who’s doubted herself
and the one who’s finally learning to stand tall.

through every chapter
she never left.

she’s celebrated my wins like they were her own
carried me through my losses
and reminded me who i was when i forgot.

our friendship isn’t built on convenience.
it’s built on showing up.
on late night phone calls.
random check ins.
inside jokes that make no sense to anyone else.
and knowing that no matter how much time passes, we’ll always find our way back to each other.

they say you can’t choose your family.
i think they’re wrong.

sometimes family is the person who chooses you every single day.

i’m endlessly grateful that life gave me a best friend who feels more like a sister
a safe place
and a forever kind of love.

everyone deserves a friendship like this. 🤍

please don’t let not having a present be the reason you don’t come to my child’s birthday.

your presence will always mean more than anything you could buy.

she won’t remember who spent the most money.
she’ll remember who showed up.
who sang happy birthday.
who laughed with her
played with her
and made her feel celebrated.

life is expensive. i know that. i’d never want someone to miss making memories with my child because they felt embarrassed that they couldn’t bring a gift.

bring your smile.
bring your stories.
bring your time.

that’s the gift that lasts long after the wrapping paper is thrown away.

because at the end of the day, i’m raising my child to value people over presents
and i’d rather have a room full of people who love her than a pile of gifts from people who felt obligated to buy something when they couldn’t afford it.
