Now this is true leadership!!! Saddle Lake Cree Nation knows how to take care of their people!!!

Saddle Lake Cree Nation in Alberta is invoking Treaty 6 to create a safe haven for trans and two-spirit youth seeking gender-affirming care.

The Nation says the healthcare is protected under the treaty's 150-year-old "medicine chest" clause and falls under its inherent jurisdiction. It plans to bring clinicians onto reserve land despite Alberta's restrictions on puberty blockers and hormone therapy for trans kids under 16.

Chief Dale Steinhauer says: "All children, including trans and two-spirit children and their family, will have safety under our treaty."

Ever have a stubborn sliver that you can’t get out? 🧷
I got a super thin long sliver in my thumb a few weeks ago and couldn’t get to out. It was really bothering me last night and I was trying to get it out with no luck. Figured I’d try a pimple patch since I’ve seen them work their magic for a stubborn pimple.
Well I put one on before I went to bed, woke this morning and took the pimple patch off and the sliver was right there almost completely out. One pull with the tweezers and sweet relief!!! So these are also now sliver patches!!!

Inuk woman from Nunavut currently living in Toronto, raising kids, feeding a sourdough starter named Sedna, making bannock with absolutely zero measurements, and somehow turning my kitchen into a full-time production studio.

I cook. I bake. I make Inuit art. I teach culture. I overshare. I swear. I cry when strangers are nice to me. I accidentally go viral and then panic because now 57,000 people are watching me make bannock.

I came to Toronto at 8, survived foster care and group homes, became a mom, built a business, became an educator, started selling sourdough, and apparently decided sleep was optional.

My ancestors measure my ingredients. My husband watches me create chaos. My children watch me embarrass myself on the internet. And Facebook watches me chase a bonus like it owes me money.

Somewhere between Inuit culture, questionable kitchen experiments, ADHD-fuelled ideas, lipstick, profanity and emotional breakdowns… I accidentally built a community.

Welcome to the circus. I’m the ringmaster and I have no idea what I’m doing.

Last week, there was a viral video of an ignorant [settler] woman defending cultural appropriation at her organization.

“Now I’m scared to wear my Native-designed beaded earrings,” was one of her gaslighting responses (as if that’s equivalent to wearing a sacred headdress 🙄)

Here’s 5 reasons why wearing Native-designed earrings is NOT cultural appropriation:

1. Decolonizing Wealth // Buying directly from Native artists bypasses corporate colonial systems.

2. Funding Resistance // Financial support helps Native creators sustain their families and community-led initiatives.

3. Combating Exploitation // Purchasing authentic work (not Native “inspired” earrings) fights the colonial pattern of stealing and mass-producing Indigenous designs.

4. Affirming Artistic Freedom // Purchasing diverse mediums allows Indigenous artists to reclaim their right to use modern technology and diverse materials to express their Ancestral stories and identities on their own terms

5. Normalizing Indigenous Presence // Wearing these pieces proudly brings Native art and identity into modern spaces. It normalizes it.

That ignorant woman said that Natives calling out cultural appropriation would make people NOT support Native artists.

Let’s prove her wrong.
