The last two summers, we’ve intentionally tried to give our girls a little taste of the childhood we grew up with. And this year, we took it a step further and cut the iPads out completely.

And honestly? It was beautiful.

Camping. Riding bikes. Swimming. Exploring. Playing outside until dinner. Backyard adventures. Calling family on a landline. Finding ways to have fun that didn’t involve a screen.

Of course, they live in a completely different world than we did. Technology is everywhere, and we’re not pretending it doesn’t have a place in their lives. But I’ve realized we don’t have to simply give in to the way the world is going.

We can still choose slow mornings, long afternoons outside, imagination, boredom, adventure, family time and good old-fashioned fun.

We can still give our kids the beautiful childhood we remember.

And maybe the sweetest part of all? They don’t even ask for the iPad anymore.

We can’t recreate our childhood exactly. But we can recreate the feeling of it.

I think some things are worth passing down. 🤍
Do you think we’ve accepted screens as part of childhood a little too easily?

And just like that… three whole months of summer 2026 are over. 🍂📚

I have to admit, it’s bittersweet. Knowing that this time next summer, the girls will be another year older makes me want to hold onto these moments just a little tighter. But I’m also incredibly grateful that we had three full months together this year, our longest summer yet. And we made sure to soak up every single bit of it. 🤍

I even put work on the back burner for a while. To anyone who reached out over the last several months and I still haven’t gotten back to you, I’m sorry! 🙈 But I truly don’t regret it.

They’re only little for so long, and I’ve always said God, family, work, in that order. I believe there is such purpose in honouring the priorities God has given us, and I trust that He will continue to bless the work I put my hands to when the time is right. So yes, I’m stepping back into content creation, image consulting, clients and hopefully some exciting collaborations that are still waiting for me after my little hiatus. 😂

But first, I’m just grateful. Grateful for the summer we had. Grateful for the memories, the adventures, the slow days and the quality time. And grateful that I got to choose them again and again. ❤️

Now it’s time for a new season, and I’m genuinely excited to see what God has in store for the girls this school year, and for Andrew, for me, and for all of us as a family.

Here’s to another year of growing, learning, becoming and trusting God with every step. 🙏🏻

Happy first day of school! 🍎✨ I hope everyone had a wonderful first day back!

August: Core memories. Quality time. So many adventures. 🤍

We started the month with a few extra days in Cape Breton, then road-tripped to Boothbay Harbor, came home and headed out for our annual family camping trip and filled our days with beach trips, pool days, water parks, day trips with friends and family, sleepovers, campfires, sunsets, our annual family scavenger hunt around CB Island, and so many fun moments in between.

We celebrated Elle’s 9th birthday a week early, squeezed in some very serious squishy hunts, and kept our 90s summer going strong — no iPads, no gaming, just kids being kids. (Movies on the long road trips are obviously the exception! 😂)

So many laughs, so much quality time together, and so many memories I hope our girls carry with them for years to come.

Feeling incredibly thankful for this summer, for our family, and for all the adventures we got to share together. 🤍 it may be September, but our kids don’t go back to school next Wednesday so it ain’t over till it’s over! Sucking up every last minute. Xx

✨ ELLE’S NEEDOH ERA ✨

Our girl is turning NINE! 💕 Her actual birthday isn’t until next weekend, but we celebrated early with her friends, and we couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day! ☀️

She requested a Squishy/Needoh-themed party, so naturally, we went ALL in. 😂💗 We had a giant basket overflowing with squishies and Needohs, including some rare ones we had to hunt down and pay a little more for than we probably ever imagined spending on tiny squishy toys. 😂 But you know… the things you do for your kids to make their day extra special. And seeing her excitement made it worth every penny. 🥹💕

We had a squishy cake, Squishy Toss, Freeze Dance with a squishy in hand, and of course, SQUISHY prizes! The girls could trade their prizes at the end if they wanted, which was just another fun little part of the whole squishy trend they’re loving right now. 💕😂

She had the BEST day, and we finished it off with a sleepover with two of her besties—including her sister. 💗 The sweetest way to celebrate our girl and this very specific little Needoh era she’s in right now.

We’ll celebrate again on her actual birthday next weekend, as we always do, with family. 🎂✨

Tell me—do you do birthday themes? Which was your favourite? This was actually a lot of fun to do!

Our 5th annual camping trip 🤍⛺️

This year the girls brought along two of their friends for their very first camping sleepover—and between the bunk beds, board games, s’mores, sunsets, mini putt and waterpark fun… I think we may have created some pretty special core memories. 🥹✨

And I want to know… did you ever have a camping sleepover with friends as a kid? ⛺️🔥

A camping sleepover with their besties… the kind of memory I know they’ll carry with them forever. 🤍⛺️✨

Our 5th annual camping trip looked a little different this year. We usually tent, but the girls really wanted to try a trailer, so we rented one and it ended up being the perfect setup for them to invite two of their friends for their very first camping sleepover. 🥹

Board games in the trailer, running down to the dock, watching the sunset, mini putting, roasting s’mores around the campfire, waterpark days, and one very special night of giggles and bunk-bed sleepover fun. ❤️

I loved watching them run around together, completely carefree, making the kind of memories that make childhood so magical.

So grateful we get to give them these little adventures and even more grateful for the friends who make their childhood so much sweeter.

The kind of summer days they’ll talk about when they’re grown. 🤍

Are you Team Tent ⛺️ or Team Trailer 🚐?

Great American Squishy Hunt 🧸🇺🇸 | Episode 1

We’re a Canadian family heading to one of our favourite places in Maine — beautiful Boothbay Harbor 🌊🤍 — a charming seaside town on the coast that we love coming back to every summer.

This year, we decided to make the drive part of the adventure for the girls and turn our road trip into The Great American Squishy Hunt! 🧸

We took the day to stop at some of the American restaurants the girls have heard about and wanted to try, and of course, visit as many stores as we could in search of the squishies they’ve been hunting for. 😂

📍 Dunkin’ — Houlton, ME ☕️
📍 Five Below — Bangor, ME 🧸

We found some squishies at Five Below… but not the ones the girls were really hoping for. 👀 So the hunt was officially ON!

This is Episode 1 of our Maine squishy-hunting series, and there are A LOT more stops to come. 🧸🇺🇸

And since we already know we’ll be doing this again, we need your help! Americans, leave us your best squishy-hunting tips, secret spots, and must-stop stores for us — or for anyone else travelling across the border in search of these crazy squishies everyone is obsessed with and I still can’t quite wrap my brain around! 😂👇🏻 We’re taking notes!

Boothbay Diaries ⚓️

There’s something about a seaside town in Maine that feels like coming home. 🤍

Coming from an island, I think we’re naturally drawn to places like Boothbay Harbour—the salty sea air, fresh seafood, beautiful coastal walks, charming little shops and that unmistakable feeling of being by the ocean.

It’s becoming one of our favourite summer traditions and one of our favourite places in Maine. Every year, we find ourselves coming back and falling in love with it all over again. Amazing food, views, and all the things that feel like summer.

This year, we had to try a new spot because we couldn’t get into our usual favourite—and I’m so glad we did. It was beautiful to see another side of this already beautiful little town. Sometimes the unexpected plans make the best memories. 🌊🦞☀️

Until next summer, Boothbay. 🤍
