Let’s get right to it: Blood relation doesn’t obligate someone to Love you.

Read that again.

I don’t know how many times I had to learn this lesson before I realized that, sure, “blood is thicker than water”, but, in no way do our birth ties automatically create bonds between us.

Sometimes, the people we refer to as family, are the first ones to cross us, given the opportunity. Sharing DNA does not mean a person will show up, and sometimes those are the relationships that are the most toxic.

Personally, I don’t give a damn about blood anymore. Family should be based on Loyalty, on Trust, on support, and on Love. I don’t care what DNA says, if a relationship doesn’t have those things, that person is not my family.

Around here, family is who shows up. It’s about presence and who actually makes an effort. They’re the ones who stay and always want what is best for you. The ones who WANT you in their life, accept you for who you are, and love you UNCONDITIONALLY ~ NO MATTER WHAT.

So, no, blood is not always thicker than water. It took a lot of work and even more time for me to accept that, that’s okay.
And in doing so I learned the most important thing of all:
Being able to CHOOSE my family? Oh, it’s such a beautiful thing 💜💙

Luna bean managed to escape this morning, I’m heartbroken knowing I probably won’t ever see her again but I’m trying to keep hope that she’s hiding somewhere close and I am able to find her.
If anyone in Timmins in the Sterling/Lee/Cedar/Balsam area spots her, please message me right away. Don’t try to approach her because she will absolutely run and hide.

Bella seen her first Moose, Turkey, and Rooster today! She played with a chipmunk (more like hide and never find), she got treats from pépé and 2 nice long drives with her boy.
