What’s the difference between an Expedition and a Cruise 🤔 🚢

We’ve explored the Arctic and the Antarctic Regions with and here are some of the differences between an expedition and a cruise!

An expedition is on a smaller ship (typically under 200 people), making it a much more intimate experience. It also allows visits to remote destinations, landings at unique sights that have limits on the number of visitors.

There are at least 2 daily excursions and activities included. These can be Zodiac Cruising, hiking and on Quark Expeditions Ultramarine Ship, a helicopter flight seeing experience. You can also add extras like the exclusive Tundra to Table experience or Paddle Excursions to your adventure.

Wildlife encounters are unique because you are seeing them in their remote habitat. On our recent adventure through the Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic we saw over 25 polar bears and over 200 Narwhal! 😱 In Antarctica we saw hundreds of Penguins as well as Humpback Whales and Orcas!

Other things we love about Expeditions are the lectures from experts onboard like Marine Biologists, Archeologists and Historians. Also, food and drinks are included! 🙌🏻

Where the wild things are 🦓🐘🦒 🌍

If we can suggest any experience to splurge on in your lifetime, it would be a Safari in the Serengeti 🙌🏻 We explored with and the team and we had some of the most incredible wildlife encounters. From curious lion cubs, to a herd of elephants surrounding our vehicle, to witnessing a lion attempt to hunt, this was an experience we will never forget.

The best summer roadtrip destination is definitely here! 👇🏼🌲⛰️

Banff is hands down one of our favourite places we have ever road-tripped and we have put together a few tips we think you should know before you go:

🏕️ if you are camping, rent a campsite well ahead of your trip (in some popular parks, right when they open the permits for the season) to ensure you get a spot!

🚐 rent a campervan from to have your transportation and lodging all in one! It’s a cost effective way to road trip the Banff area and is a great way to save costs on meals 🙌🏻

🚨 NEW in 2024 you will need to book a shuttle bus to Moraine Lake! From June 1 - October 14 2024 personal vehicles will no longer have access to Moraine Lake. This means you will need to either utilize the shuttle service or book a guided tour to see this iconic lake. If you want to see Lake Louise as well, you can book the Lake Connector Shuttle at no additional cost!

🗺️ Have some extra time? Then head up to Jasper and explore a few places there! We recommend a trip to Magline Lake and Pyramid Lake just to name a few!

Mini Guide to Visiting Sideman in Bali Indonesia 🇮🇩🌴 (‘Save’ this post for planning later!)

Sideman is probably one of our favourite areas in Bali! This area is know for it’s Mount Agung Views, stunning Rice Fields and has so many waterfalls to explore! Here are some tips for visiting this area of Bali!

Where to stay: we loved ! We loved that it was tucked away from hustle and bustle so you truly feel like you are in a secluded paradise. We also loved their large rooms, stunning grounds and facilities.

Getting Around: We rented a scooter to explore the area on our own time and agenda. We rented it with the help of the concierge at the front desk who had a local friend with scooters available. You can also hire a private driver (much cheaper than you think!) to take you to some amazing local spots.

Things To Do: There are many things to do in the area, but these were some of our favorites that we feel you shouldn’t miss!
⁃ Chase Waterfalls 💧 we recommend visiting Gembleng Falls for its famous infinity pool views and Tukad Cepung Waterfall for its famous light beams!
⁃ Visit rice fields 🌾 ask a local for some recommendations on rice fields to visit in the area with the best views!
⁃ Mount Agung 🌋 Join a hiking or jeep tour to visit Mount Agung at sunrise. Definitely one of our favourite experiences in bali! We used a private driver who set up the tour for us and it included a stop at a coffee plantation and hot springs!
⁃ Visit the “gates of heaven” at Pura Lempuyang! This place can get busy so make sure to have some patience but it’s popular for a reason, it’s stunning!
