SUNDAY SERMON: The OBSTRUCTIONISTS.. Joseph’s brothers are a perfect example.
These are people who are surrounded by greatness, but instead of working together with the person carrying that greatness so that everyone can benefit from it, they choose jealousy, ignorance, and selfishness.
They would rather bring that person down than see them rise. Genesis 37:18-20
“And when they saw him afar off… they conspired against him to slay him.”
Their mindset is:
“It is better for all of us to remain on the ground than for that small boy or girl to become great and for us to bow before them.”
Joseph’s brothers tried to kill him, not knowing that the same greatness they were fighting against was the greatness God had ordained to save all of them. Their family and the entire community.
Even today, there are people like that around us.
Some are around your destiny, around your marriage, around your business, around your ministry, around your family. Some are spouses.
They refuse to support you because of jealousy, ignorance, pride, or selfishness, not realizing that by grounding you, they are also grounding themselves and delaying the blessings connected to your rising.
Some laugh with you in front, but secretly work against you behind your back.
Prayer
Father, expose every obstructionist around me. Separate me from anyone assigned to frustrate my destiny until I achieve the goals You have prepared for me.
May the Lord direct our steps and protect us from those who smile in our faces but secretly stab us in the back.
May every evil agenda designed to delay our progress be destroyed by the power of God.
