According to the findings, Ontario’s GDP per person sits far below nearby U.S. states, with the gap continuing to grow over time. In fact, the average across the region is about 27% higher than Ontario’s level, highlighting a widening prosperity divide. 
Experts warn this isn’t just about numbers — it could mean slower wage growth, fewer job opportunities, and declining living standards for Ontarians. 
The report suggests Ontario has been struggling with productivity and economic growth, while U.S. states continue to pull ahead.
