A personal update: I’ve just inherited a cat from a dear friend who passed away. Her name is Darlin, and she is very committed to demonstrating the art of napping. After years of living alone since losing my husband, I’m discovering the quiet joy (and occasional frustration) of sharing my space again. A lot of people say happy holidays but how do you stay happy during the holiday season?
This time ask a lot of us — emotionally, physically, and sometimes financially. It’s easy to slip into old patterns of doing everything for everyone.�But one of the simplest ways to ease stress is to add something new just for you.
A short class, a creative spark, a walk somewhere different, a tiny adventure — novelty actually lifts mood and reduces stress, especially later in life. It reminds your nervous system that life isn’t only about responsibilities; it’s also about discovery.
Trying something new isn’t another task — it’s a release valve.
