My Lucerne Launch ๐๐ง๐จ๐ญ
Yesterday marked my first major solo train adventure, and I was feeling very proud of myself ๐ฅฐ โ I had booked it all using two different apps, two different transfers, and even reserved my seat (where possible โ feeling like a seasoned Eurail pro already).
Everything was going so smoothlyโฆ until, of course, it wasnโt. ๐
๐จ My second train was delayed by 30 minutes, which meant Iโd miss my connection. No problem, I thought โ until my lovely English-speaking seatmate translated the onboard announcement: โThis train is no longer going to Basel SBB.โ
Oh. Cool. Great. ๐
Apparently, we were to get off early and find a tram. I was still wrapping my head around that when a new announcement rerouted us again! We were told to disembark at a different station where a fresh train would whisk us to Basel. ๐
So I did what any seasoned traveller would do: followed the crowd and hoped for the best. ๐
Eventually, I made it to Lucerne โ and WOW, was it worth the chaos. ๐
๐จ My hotel is nestled right in the heart of Old Town, right at the foot of the stunning Chapel Bridge. I quickly unpacked and headed out to explore.
Within minutes, I stumbled upon a cheese fondue terrace overlooking the river. YES, PLEASE. ๐ง๐ท
There I was, in my winter coat, sipping wine and dipping baguette into bubbling fondue on the terrace like I was born Swiss. ๐จ๐ญ๐
This morning? Absolute heaven. โ๏ธ I explored the winding cobbled streets of Old Town, then decided to check out Gรผtsch Castle, perched majestically above the city.
A quick tram ride and I was sipping a Gรผtsch Spritz on the castle terrace, overlooking all of Lucerne. The views were jaw-dropping. ๐
This afternoon, Iโm planning to hop on a boat for a scenic lake tour ๐ค โ a different way to soak in this magical city (and maybe pick up some fun history along the way).
Feeling grateful, so happy, and a little gooey from all the cheese. ๐
Switzerland, youโve officially charmed me. โค๏ธ๐จ๐ญ
