HEALTH READING PRACTICE
A Healthier Life
For several months, Adam felt tired and stressed. He worked long hours, ate fast food, and rarely exercised. He also stayed awake late at night and did not get sufficient sleep. These unhealthy habits affected his overall health.
One morning, Adam felt dizzy at work. His manager asked him to sit down and drink water. Later that day, Adam visited his doctor for a check-up. After a careful assessment, the doctor told him that he needed to become more physically active and follow a balanced diet.
“Your body needs nutritious food, regular exercise, and restorative sleep,” the doctor explained. “You should also stay hydrated throughout the day and stay away from foods containing too much sugar and salt.”
Adam decided to improve his health. Every morning, he went for a brisk walk in the park. Three evenings a week, he worked out at a local gym. He began to consume more vegetables, fruit, and other nutrient-dense foods. He also chose to abstain from sugary drinks.
At first, following this new health regimen was difficult. However, Adam did not give up. When he experienced psychological strain, he took a few minutes to unwind and achieve deep relaxation. He also went to bed earlier to get sufficient sleep.
After three months, Adam had more energy and felt less pressure. His doctor was pleased with his progress. Adam learned that small daily choices could enhance well-being and optimise health outcomes.
