🔥 PB ALERT! 🔥
Landed my personal best 2lb 13oz Largemouth at a local pond this morning!

Went out with my good buddy and in just 1.5 hours, we hauled in over 30 fish! 🎣

The bite was fire at dawn but slowed once the sun got higher — timing is everything!

The recent rains have brought a welcome rise in water levels at Duffins Creek, setting the stage for some prime steelhead action this weekend. Early reports are rolling in of chrome-bright steelhead pushing through, taking full advantage of the improved flow. First light has been the magic hour, with anglers finding success using beads to mimic drifting roe. For the fly fishers, nymph patterns have been producing as well—subtle presentations are key in these conditions. If you’re heading out, now’s the time to prep your gear and hit the water early. Fished a popular river yesterday and it was awesome watching anglers use different techniques. 🎣 Most were rocking nightcrawlers on bobbers, pulling in sunfish and perch left and right. I had my eye on bass, though, so I switched it up with a spinner. 🐟 While spinners can grab multi-species, this time it nailed my target—bass! Meanwhile, my neighbor kept landing perch and sunfish.

Ever notice the wild color variations on largemouth bass? 🐟 Here’s the scoop: their color can change depending on a few cool factors! Young bass tend to be more vibrant, while older ones take on a darker tone. Water clarity plays a huge role too—clear water bass are lighter, while murky water gives them a deeper shade. 🎨 And don’t forget the bottom! Bass chilling on darker substrates blend in, while those in lighter areas stand out more.

Dr. Sajjad Fazel is an internationally recognized public health professional with 5+ years of experience working in health policy, research, health promotion, management, communications, and knowledge translation. Currently, Sajjad works as a research associate in the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research Department at Alberta Health Services. He is also the research director for Knight’s Cabin – an NGO assisting cancer survivors to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Sajjad’s research focuses primarily on three areas; health promotion and misinformation, cancer prevention, and to***co control. Prior to joining Alberta Health Services, Sajjad was a policy researcher for the Canadian Cancer Society where he led the smoke-free campuses initiative. Devoted to science communication, Sajjad created the Afya Yako program – a health promotion initiative that improved the health literacy of over 100,000 Tanzanians. He has been featured in major news outlets including BBC, CBC, IBN, Radio Deutsche Welle, Voice of America, Global News Radio, and Clouds. In 2019, Sajjad was voted among the top 50 most influential Tanzanians. Sajjad is interested in the intersection of health, policy and media. He is currently working with a team of researchers across Canada studying Covid-19 misinformation. Sajjad holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Manipal University, India and a Master of Public Health from Western University, Canada.
