"You think you've won today? You haven't won nothing. Your country will burn from the inside, and we will have victory."

That's what a flex-cuffed Taliban fighter said to Kris Hregdovic's face in Afghanistan in 2012. He was 23 years old. Fourteen years later, he still thinks about it every day.

Kris spent two decades as a Navy SEAL, following a family line that's answered the call for generations β€” a great-uncle who survived a POW camp in Korea, an uncle killed in Vietnam, a brother who deployed to Iraq. Now transitioning into speaking and executive coaching, his operating principle is simple: before you point the finger at a broken system, point the thumb at yourself.

What's one area of your own life where "point the thumb" would actually change something this week?

Two former prosecutors ran a 14,000-employee company together for 40 years and never once said "I told you so."

Rick Rosenfield, co-founder of California Pizza Kitchen, describes what he and his partner Larry Flax had as synergy β€” "we thought of ourselves as 1 and 1 equals 3."

They'd be on the Today Show or Good Morning America and never compete for the microphone. Their lines just flowed. No jealousy, no upstaging, no scorekeeping. They talked first thing in the morning, all day, and again in the evening, and every decision the company ever made was made by both of them.

Rick's word for it is simple, and he doesn't hedge on it: it was 100% trust.

The barbecue chicken pizza was the hook. This partnership was the actual company.

Who's the person you'd build something with on that kind of trust? Tag them.

Kevin Thompson: when we're genuinely listening for people's answers β€” and asking more questions based on what they shared β€” we give them something they rarely get: the experience of being seen, heard, and understood. That's what makes people feel connected to you.

Fiction ennobles the soul. That's Nicky's line β€” and it's also the whole argument behind ' podcast, Leadership Lessons from the Great Books.

Sorrells joins Nicky for a conversation that wanders from Jane Austen's emotional intelligence to President McKinley's tariff policy to what jiu-jitsu teaches about patience and position. It's one of those episodes that makes you want to close the laptop, make a cup of something, and actually read.

Three action steps to close it out. One of them will make you put down your phone. Another might make you pick up a book you'd never normally touch.

She started with a 60-day boot camp challenge. Won it. Used the $500 prize to hire a personal trainer instead of taking the cash. Then COVID closed every gym and she built a serious physique in her living room with resistance bands and a few dumbbells from Amazon.

Geanina Nina stepped on stage for the first time at 50. No coach. Wearing a mask. Her daughter watching from the wings. And she competed anyway.

What she has built since β€” physically, professionally, and in the lives of the women she coaches β€” comes down to one thing she repeats to every client: discipline is not glamorous, but it is the only thing that actually works. She has eaten the same breakfast for five years. She treats the gym like a second job. She does not negotiate her training schedule, even when she is tired.

At 51, turning 52, Nina is still competing, still building, and still showing what is possible when you stop waiting to feel like it.

If you have ever told yourself that real transformation is only for the young, this conversation is for you.

What is one thing in your own routine that you know you should stop negotiating on?

"And I don't say anything, shame on me." β€” JJ Virgin

JJ Virgin Virgin makes an argument that most practitioners avoid: selling isn't a necessary evil, it's a moral duty. If you're a functional medicine practitioner, a coach, or even a parent, you're selling constantly β€” the apple over the cookie, the walk over the couch. That's not manipulation. That's service.

Here's where it gets sharp. If JJ knows she has a way to pull a struggling practitioner out of a business that's drowning them in debt β€” and she says nothing because she's afraid of hearing no β€” that's not humility. That's a disservice to someone she could have helped.

The line she draws matters too: she won't push unsolicited advice on a stranger's body or business. But when someone asks for help and you sit on what you know, that's the real failure.

"It doesn't dawn on them to be old and act old." β€” JJ Virgin

JJ Virgin just turned the "I'm just getting older" excuse inside out. It's not a fact β€” it's a permission slip. The vibrant people in the blue zones, the 90-year-old still chasing business deals instead of playing cards with his retired friends β€” none of them decided in advance to slow down.

There's a study she cites that says it all: put a group of men in their 70s in a room, play the music from when they were 30, dress them like they were 30 β€” and they start acting like it. Belief moves the body.

JJ hit this wall herself heading into 60. Instead of coasting into the memes about aches and pains, she got fired up, trained like she meant it, and stepped into 60 in the best shape of her life β€” heavier lifts than her 20s. Her best age isn't a number in the past. It's now.

Most leadership training of the last 20 years has been pointing leaders in the same direction: collaborate more, share power, treat your team as peers. And there is something genuinely right about that instinct.

But Joseph Riggio β€” 36 years working with C-suite executives, investors, and special forces operators β€” has watched that instinct quietly hollow out leadership accountability. When leaders start believing that decisions are collective, they also stop owning the outcomes. And that is where things go wrong.

His concept of ontological arrogance flips the script. Arrogance, in his framework, is not a character flaw. It is the capacity to gather input from everyone around you, genuinely listen, and then stand in your own authority and make the call. Completely. Without hedging.

The Vince Lombardi story in this episode says it better than any framework could. This morning I was your coach. Tonight I'm your friend. Go pay your bill.

If you are building something β€” a business, a team, a movement β€” and you are responsible for the decisions that shape it, this one is worth your time.

Two brothers. Twenty thousand dollars. No staff, no investors, no outside capital.

Using twelve AI tools β€” the same ones any of us can access for about $20 a month each β€” they built a business selling GLP-1 medication online and hit $400 million in revenue in their first full year. This year they are tracking toward $1.8 billion.
bodnarchuk10x has been studying AI since 2017, and what he sees everywhere he goes is the same thing: smart, capable people who know the buzzwords but have never actually set up their AI properly. They open ChatGPT, get a generic answer, and walk away thinking the hype is overblown. The problem is not the tool. It is that nobody told them about the three-step setup that changes everything.

In this episode, Roman walks through it live β€” personalize your settings, connect your data, and talk to it every day. Nicky does the setup on camera in real time. The difference in what the tool produces is immediate. If you have been using AI casually and not getting much from it, this conversation will change that.

What is stopping you from spending 10 minutes today setting up your AI properly?
