I’m already daydreaming about the crunchy leaves, layering up on the trails, and all the cozy fall vibes ahead. 🍂🍁

🦌 Plot twist: She didn’t chase the deer.

Every trip with Risa shows me something new but this one had me doing a double take.

We were out on a hike when she locked eyes with some deer before I even saw them. Ears up. Body ready. She launched like she meant business… and then she stopped, looked at me, and came straight back.

First time seeing deer. First real test. And she chose to check in with me instead.

I was s t u n n e d. Like, this the same girl who used to react to leaves?

She handled a full road trip like a seasoned pro and now she’s out here making better recall decisions than my adult dogs. What is happening and who is this grown dog in my puppy’s body?

We’ve had such a busy two weeks, with an even busier summer planned and the chaos of it all honestly gives me ✨dopamine✨

I love being busy and staying busy, as long as I still have some time to read my books. Days with nothing planned honestly give me anxiety and I have to find things to do to fill it with.

This is probably why this little Belgian fit in so perfectly with my lifestyle.

came to visit us with Zuko while .cereus came up from Texas!

The border officer was very concerned for that she was meeting somebody from online 😅 we’ve all been friends for a while now, and it won’t be the first time we’re meeting somebody from the online dog community so none of us really thought much of it

It’s so hard balancing two dogs with two very different drives, but both are high energy dogs.

Some days, I feel like Rai has had to take a backseat while I spend more time training Risa, dipping our feet into the sports world and just making sure she ends up a good canine citizen.

(Then add in the floofs, where they are more like needy cats who want occasional hikes)

It’s been a delicate balance of the two working dogs (with very different needs), and my sanity.

My recommendation to everyone would be to get dogs that have similar types of needs, or just have companion dogs along with your working dogs 🤪

Raiden turned 8 this year.
Which is wild, because in my mind he’s still the same puppy I trained years ago - ready to work, never misses a cue, always two steps ahead of me.

But he’s also… older now.
A little reluctant to wake up in the mornings.
More naps.
A little slower after long walks.

So we’ve made some changes. Softer routines. More cozy spots. And a new daily habit that’s made a real difference:

Because Raiden deserves to feel strong - not just for the work he does, but for the life he lives. And at 8 years old, I want every single year ahead of him to feel just as solid as the ones behind.

Here’s to the slow mornings, the long walks, and the dogs who never stop showing up for us. 🖤

Somehow, she looks like both a baby dog and such a grown dog at the same time 🥹

They say female Belgians are much more serious but so far, she’s been such a silly little dog.

There are some moments where her maturity shines through, some moments where she likes to remind me that she’s still very much a teen, and many moments that she is still a baby.

In your breed, at what age are they considered mentally matured?
