Better gig types expect to pay a bit more than a pub. Having your pricing strategy dialled in is a great way to stand out from other musicians, trying to get the job.

Create three prices: the one off gig should be priced the highest, a four gig mini-residency should give them a little bit of a break on pricing, and a full on weekly residency should give them the best rate while still making sure to charge more than you would make in a pub.

what I love about this method is your typically get in at your highest price point because before they hire you for a residency or even a mini residency, they’ll want to hear you in action. At that point the one-off gig seems like the lowest friction point…

At bats aka repetitions of outreach (actually calling venues, sending emails, visiting in person, and networking) is the lever you have the most control over especially as you grow your gigging career.
If you put in the reps you’ll see a certain % of gatekeepers engage and if they don’t it signals for you to work on your brand (look, messaging, tone, etc).
