😱 Is the Dominican Republic safe?
People still seem to be afraid, but we had 0 bad experiences during our 28 days there.
Stay away from shady neighborhoods
Ask around info to avoid scams (exchange rates, sim card pricing, legit entrances to attractions).

🤓 Why stay there?
- Less crowded: DR is known for white sand beaches in Punta Cana resorts, but not so much for active country exploration.
Mexico destinations are very popular, explore DR while it’s not that crowded yet.
- Incredible nature (White sand beaches, lush greenery everywhere, stunning waterfalls and cliffs)
- Moderate prices
- Historical cities
- Amazing attractions/experiences
- Fresh coconuts!!

👀 Where to stay?
For those interested in hotels – DM us “KIWI” for a FREE breakdown of 5 Punta Cana resorts.
For active explorers, we tried Airbnb/Booking in 10+ cities, and the prices are ok. Our Santo Domingo stay was $25 per night for a room in a shared apartment (positive experience)
