I’m on a billboard! 🤯
This National AccessAbility Week, I was blessed with the opportunity to be part of AccessFest’s photo exhibit ahead of the festival this Saturday. 🖼️
Being part of this photo exhibit has been such an honour for me. The importance of disability representation is something that still gets overlooked in the media every day. These portraits have given society the chance to see disabled people in a positive, joyful light, as opposed to being featured solely in sob stories or as “inspiration.” 😁
This experience has reinforced something I already know: People with disabilities can and should be featured in all forms of media representation, to the point where it becomes normalized. 16% of the world’s population is disabled, so why isn’t that reflected in our media and entertainment? ♿️
I hope that organizations like AccessFest and many others continue to lead conversations as we work toward a more equitable, inclusive, and accessible world. 💪🏾
Thank you, AccessFest, for creating this exhibit and choosing me to be a part of it. ☺️
See you all at AccessFest this Saturday (June 6) at David Pecaut Square! 🟡
