"Oh, the Places You'll Go!"

This April, we had the amazing opportunity to tag along with a group of educators as they toured 🇨🇦 Canada’s largest gold-producing mine 🪙 and learned about the many (and often unexpected!) career paths in the industry.

Times have changed and these tours are aimed at debunking outdated stereotypes, changing perceptions and educating teachers, parents and students on the benefits of a career in mining.

We spoke to a lot of employees on this trip -unprompted, and the passion and pride they had for their work was unlike anything I’d ever seen…and I’ve done a lot of corporate shoots! The phrase “dream job” got thrown around a lot. Again and again, we heard stories of people entering the mining world not quite sure where they’d fit — only to be guided, supported, and offered opportunities to grow.

Is it your typical 9-5? Definitely not. But in a time when home ownership feels out of reach for so many young people, it was refreshing to hear how this industry is enriching and empowering youth across Canada.

🎬🎥 Normally, we’re chasing people for soundbites — but not here. The first cut of the video was over 10 minutes! We had so much content to work with -a great problem to have! We’ll be releasing a series of shorter videos with this material over the next few weeks! 👀

A teleprompter is a great piece of kit and can be a lifesaver sometimes but it's never my first choice and I will avoid it whenever possible. Your audience can always tell. We had it ready to go for this one but did not need it! Shout out to Shaun for making his first on camera appearance as the new CEO of Vale Base Metals look easy!

#4 is what the cam op has to look at when I edit the prompter. More reason not to use it!

On the field with Greenworks and Hamilton Tiger-Cats! The first part of our day was spent photographing 30+ products...and then the Ti-Cats SHOWED UP! Shout out to .smith & for making my job easy! We shot lots of great in use footage with the tools (and ebikes!!) and then gave these guys a chance to show off their acting chops in a few short skits. As usual, we had a lot we wanted to capture and they absolutely killed it!

On location with and ! This week, we pulled off an ambitious, action-packed day with 12+ setups featuring over 45 products! How? A LOT of planning, a solid crew, a versatile location and talent that was up for anything! Thanks to everyone for enduring the heat ☀️🔥 and bringing their A Game.
