Sigma Music in Canada has announced that it has signed Kalyan Kedar under its label. The announcement came in a recent media statement from the record label. It noted that given his cultural background, Kalyan is poised to bring his unique artistry to an even broader audience under the Sigma Music banner.
Kalyan was born in born in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and according to the label, he grew up grew up immersed in the traditional sounds of Baithakgana, guided by his father, Sadafal Kedar—a legendary figure in the Surinamese music community.
According to the label, Kalyan’s career has been marked by milestones that highlight his artistic evolution. It further noted that in 2019, he headlined a sold-out event in Suriname, performing for over four thousand fans. His self-written hit “Kyun Mere” in 2021 marked his international breakthrough, showcasing his versatility as a performer and songwriter.
According to the label, the summer of 2024 marked a pivotal moment in Kalyan’s journey, as he connected with international artists and expanded his global reach.
“Performances in England, Suriname, Aruba, and Canada cemented his reputation as a versatile and compelling artist. It was during this time that Kalyan was introduced to Sigma Music by the legendary KI Persad, paving the way for this exciting new partnership”, according to Sigma Music.
The release further stated that Kalyan’s upcoming projects with Sigma Music promise to captivate fans worldwide, blending his deep musical heritage with contemporary influences.
