"Jesse I really want to use one of your lo-fi mics but I'm a drummer. What do I do?" I hear you ask.

Well I just rebuilt this vintage Bell & Howell headset mic. Cables were in a bad way and the ear cups were quite dirty but now it has fresh connectors including upgrading the mic connection from 1/4" to XLR.

These are pretty freaking cool. Proper photos and audio samples coming soon.

We've got a duet of two-toned Model 500 lo-fi telephone mics finished up today. The pink & black (left) one is a Northern Electric Model 500 from the 60's. Mic is wired into the mouthpiece of the handset and features 10' of black coiled XLR. The black & pink (right) one is a Western Electric Model 500 from the 60's. Mic is wired into the mouthpiece of the handset and features 6' of black/grey cloth XLR. Both bases have been wired up where the hang up switch mutes the mic and the rotary dial adds a stutter effect. Both are available for $90 each.

This just in. A beautiful Northern Telecom 1970's Model 2500 base w/ G1 handset in red. Mic is wired into the mouthpiece and it has 2' (8' stretched) of coiled black XLR cable. First custom order at the brand new Space Station Audio shop. The height clearance may only be 5' but the bumps on my head are worth having a purpose built space to build these crazy gizmos.

I know it's not a lo-fi mic but wanted to post a couple things I got to tinker with this week at the new workshop. Picked up a box of vintage electronics to get more parts and this retro 80's Panasonic portable cassette player/recorder came with it.
