May 5-11, 2025 is Mental Health Week in Canada and the theme is “unmasking mental health.” It’s important to raise awareness on this topic, especially in the Caribbean Diaspora Community, so we at CaribbeanTales-TV want to support this initiative and present films focused on unmasking mental health issues in our community. Our first film ‘Wilderness’ is by Dawn Wilkinson - An award winning Caribbean-Canadian director who’s directed TV series such as Empire (CTV), Bel-Air(Peacock TV), Riverdale (Netflix) & more. Wilderness is about a Mother’s struggle with her teenaged son’s schizophrenia. It shows the enormous suffering experienced by those who stand alongside the people they love struggling with severe mental illness. on CaribbeanTales-TV.com

May is sexual violence prevention month, an opportunity to raise awareness about sexual abuse and show our support to people experiencing sexual violence. The best way for us to do that is through film 🎥 and on CaribbeanTales-TV.com we have two titles examining and showcasing human trafficking, an extremely prevalent form of SV, in the context of Caribbean and Western societies. Watch ‘Trafficked’ by Eye on Dependency Films & ‘Human Traffic: Past and Present’ by Frances-Anne Solomon to learn more.
