We ordered soup takeout from Linh Anh Vietnamese Cuisine, and 4 days later we’re still dealing with the damage! 😞

The lid on the bowl wasn’t sealed properly — staff noticed and taped over it anyway, even knowing it was defective. It didn’t hold. The soup spilled all over the back seat of our car, soaking through the waterproof mat into the carpet underneath.
We called the restaurant as soon as we got home. A woman answered — staff later confirmed she was the owner. She told us to come in. We arrived within 10 minutes, but she had already left. The manager inspected our car and confirmed the damage. A staff member who packed our order admitted the bowl was defective, and that she thought taping it would be enough.

We stayed over an hour, asking to speak with either owner to resolve this in person. The male owner told us to just email. The female owner — the one we’d spoken to on the phone — said she wouldn’t come back to the store, and to email as well.
It was 30°C in Toronto that day. The leaked broth was left in a hot car, the spill didn’t just stain — it started to smell fast.
When we followed up by email asking for the detailing cost to be covered, we were told we hadn’t given them a fair chance to inspect the car or discuss a resolution. But we did — the manager took photos and videos immediately and confirmed the damage. We followed up three more times by email . No response either time.
We paid for professional detailing. The smell still didn’t fully go away, and it literally smells like garbage atm 🗑️🤢 — it’s now day 4, and we had to schedule a few more sessions for follow-ups on special deodorizing treatment.
It’s been a frustrating few days, especially in this extreme heat. I’m really disappointed in how the Linh Anh Vietnamese Cuisine owners handled this — especially given that we tried to resolve it in person immediately, and staff had already confirmed both the damage and the defective packaging.
We’re not looking to blow this up. We just wanted to share what actually happened!
