Recap of 2016, my best travel year so far!
Wildly I still have my spreadsheet for that trip.
The whole thing costed C$19k. Double rooms with a free cot for the kid is definitely more affordable than the family rooms that we need to get now. This was crazy money back then but I knew this is the rare chance to take advantage of the gap year from work. Besides staying in Toronto on one EI was equally unaffordable. So of course Euro trip looked more exciting. We packed all our belongings, rented our space and took off.
Our schedule was:
📍Lloret de Mar 5 nights (free base provided by friends)
📍Barcelona 5 nights
📍Berlin 7 nights also stay at friends
📍Nice 6 nights - Cap Ferrat, Eze, Anytibes, Mona o
📍Vence 3 nights - San Paul De Vence, Grasse
📍Provence 7 nights
📍Aix en Provence 2 nights
📍Marseille 2 nights
📍Vernazza, Chinque Terre 3 nights
📍Bologna, Emilia Romagna 5 nights - Parma, Modena
📍Venice 3 nights
📍Florence 3 nights
📍Tuscany Agritirismo 6 nights
📍Siena 1 night
📍Another Tuscany Agriturismo 4 nights
📍Orvieto 3 nights
I hope this post serves you as inspiration for an adventure like this if you are currently on mat leave. It will be much harder to squeeze those long trips in once you are back to work, kids have schools and activities and the price will double once the kids need tickets and their own beds.
Thanks for being here!
