The band is focused on brining their fun filled show to Maltese-Canadian communities in Windsor, Durham, Niagara & Toronto/GTA.

Etnika has played a pivotal role in reviving Maltese folk music over the past 25 years. They toured extensively representing Malta, and performed internationally in over 15 countries and prestigious venues of Europe US, Australia and North Africa, including the Montreux Jazz festival. Their unique sound blends traditional instruments, with contemporary, pan mediterranean musical elements, offering a dynamic and engaging performance, broadening people’s perception of their own musical identity.

A surprising mix of artists, characters and instruments, *etnika layers enchanting melancholy with traditional tunes & lyrics over effected guitars, retro-futuristic synths, unconventional percussion with dance and footwork, deep, groovy bass, raspy sax, haunting whispery vocals and old Maltese instruments. The enchanting melancholy echoes over complex rhythms, old Maltese instruments find their way into the sizzling current soundscape on a fascinating musical journey of Malta and the Mediterranean.

Their show is both a tribute to Malta’s past and a forward-looking reinvention of its musical heritage. Etnika’s presence in Canada will introduce international audiences to Malta’s distinctive musical traditions while also reinforcing cultural ties within the Maltese community abroad.

🇲🇹 Malta Music Heats Up Canada Once Again!

High Commission is pleased to announce our collaboration with the Maltese band Etnika. This initiative celebrates Malta’s rich cultural heritage and aims to strengthen cultural ties between Malta and Canada through music.

As part of the Cultural Diplomacy Fund supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta, Etnika will be touring parts of Canada this November, bringing their unique blend of traditional Maltese folk and contemporary music to the following venues:

• 8 November 2:30 – Ottawa - Meet n Greet
