Despite not making it to the "Britain's Got Talent" season 19 finale, Kristel Herrera is thankful for the chance to show off her vocal abilities to a larger audience as she performed her own rendition of the song “Die on This Hill.”

The Filipina singer was eliminated on the May 16 broadcast of "Britain's Got Talent," which prevented her from competing in the season 19 finals. Poet Sonny Green and magician Rafferty Coope advanced to the next round via the Golden Buzzer and public vote, respectively, making her one of the fourth group of semifinalists.

In spite of this, Herrera thanked her followers on Instagram on Sunday, May 17, for their love and support during her journey.

“I just wanna express my gratitude to everyone who voted and supported me. I am so very grateful, and I have felt all the love and support coming from each and every one of you. We obviously didn’t make it, but it doesn’t mean it’s the end,” she said.

Even though Kristel did not advance, many Filipino supporters claimed that by presenting Filipino talent in front of a worldwide audience, she had already made the nation proud.

HANTAVIRUS UPDATE FROM WORLD 🌎 HEALTH ORGANIZATION

A rare hantavirus outbreak on a luxury expedition cruise ship reportedly killed three passengers and left numerous more dangerously ill, prompting an international health probe. According to authorities, the outbreak was caused by the Andes hantavirus, a type that is thought to be unique due to its limited human-to-human transmission.

The outbreak was associated with the Dutch cruise ship MV Hondius, which had sailed from Argentina into isolated southern waters. Prior to boarding, health officials speculate that the infection may have been initially acquired by contact with infected mice or mouse excrement.

The most typical way that hantaviruses are transmitted is by contact with saliva, urine, or rodent droppings. However, the only known hantavirus that may travel from person to person in close proximity is the Andes strain, which is present in some regions of South America.

Several ports reportedly refused to let the ship dock at first as authorities evaluated the possibility of a wider transmission. Afterwards, the ship was given the all-clear to proceed toward the Canary Islands, where quarantine protocols and medical professionals were ready.

According to officials, seven of the nine cases of the Andes hantavirus that were reported to the World Health Organization included passengers on the cruise ship. Four Canadians who had been secluded in British Columbia for at least 21 days and had arrived in Victoria without any symptoms were among them.

European health organizations and the World Health Organization have been keeping a careful eye on the situation. Because persistent human-to-human hantavirus transmission is thought to be exceedingly uncommon, officials continue to stress that the overall danger to the general public remains low.

Exercise bikes with eating tables are a novel idea from McDonald's China that has attracted the interest of many foodies.

According to a McDonald's China post on the store's opening, it was initially introduced at a location in the southern Guangdong province that encourages a low-carbon, eco-friendly lifestyle.

These are not your normal exercise bikes. They have eating tables connected, which makes it easy for patrons to bike away while they eat. Additionally, the bikes may be used as phone chargers, which adds still another level of functionality.

BEA MILLAN-WINDORSKI OF LA UNION WINS 🏆 MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES 🇵🇭 2026

Bea Millan-Windorski of La Union won the title of Miss Universe Philippines 2026 on Saturday, May 2, at the pageant night at the Mall of Asia. In November, Windorski will compete in the 75th Miss Universe pageant, which will take place in Puerto Rico.

She replaces Ahtisa Manalo, who placed third runner-up in the previous year's international pageant. Manalo walked the stage gracefully in her Miss Universe finals attire from the previous year as the show got underway.

Albay, Muntinlupa, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani, Rizal, Quezon Province, Ilocos Norte, Pangasinan, Cavite, Negros Occidental, Mountain Province, Tandag City, Camiguin, and San Jose, Negros Oriental were the top 30 out of 50.

Muntinlupa, Sultan Kudarat, Baguio City, Tacloban City, La Union, Quezon Province, Taguig, Camiguin, Tarlac, Manila, Iloilo City, and Cebu Province were in the top 15.Sultan Kudarat, La Union, Cebu City, Tarlac, Taguig, Cebu Province, and Pampanga were declared the top seven out of fifteen.

The top seven were given 45 seconds to respond to the same question: “Many Filipinos are being frustrated with the country. For you, why is it still worth it to represent the Philippines on the global stage?”

Millan-Windorski, who was a public favourite from the start, astounded the judges with her response in the last round of questions and answers:

“The Philippines is something that I've been in love with my whole life. Growing up in a predominantly non-diverse [part] of the United States, I was identified as a Filipina first and foremost. I often had to point where the Philippines was on a map to my peers, and I always felt a sense of belonging and hope,” Windorski (LaUnion) said.

“I chose to pack my life into Balikbayan Boxes because I believe in the limitless potential of the Filipino people and the fact that we need to create local opportunities here so that people don't have to go abroad and be separated from their families in order to stay. If I were to get the title of Miss Universe Philippines, I promise to be a public servant for all,” Windorski added.

Bea Millan-Windorski was named Miss Universe 2026 after competing in the Top 7.
