“In 1994, I was a TV producer with two kids when I got arrested—for something I didn’t do. I was facing 55 years. I ended up serving 14 months. Prison broke something in me. But it also opened my eyes.”

“I saw how deeply children suffer when their parents are behind bars. So I went back—this time with a camera. I started filming mothers and fathers sending video messages to their kids. Some read bedtime stories. Others just said, ‘I love you. I’m sorry.’”

“For many of these children, it was the first time they’d seen their parent smile in years.”

Carolyn LeCroy founded The Messages Project, which has helped reconnect over 13,000 families through the power of love, forgiveness, and a single camera lens.
