🎬 FROM THE BIG SCREEN TO THE PHOTO STUDIO 📸
This is what we mean when we say Toronto R***e is about more than just screening films.
At our last R***e, filmmaker and animator brought us So-Rawr-ity Girls — an incredible hand-drawn animated short bursting with personality, dark comedy, and that wonderfully nostalgic feeling of the cartoons we grew up watching.
And before the night was over, Jenna's name was pulled from the hat to receive a professional photoshoot courtesy of our sponsor Rebel CTRL.
Here are some of the results. 📸🔥
This is exactly the kind of community we're trying to build.
Independent artists already invest an enormous amount of time, creativity and resources into making their work. We want the Toronto R***e to be a place where those artists don't just get a screen and an audience — they get opportunities, resources, exposure and connections that can help them take the next step.
And thanks to our sponsors, we're able to put valuable prizes directly into the hands of the artists in the room.
Jenna came to the R***e with a film.
She left with new people knowing her work, new connections, and a professional photoshoot to help market herself and whatever she creates next.
That's the R***e.

Think the Toronto R***e is just short films? Think again. 🎬🎵
Every Toronto R***e is built around one simple idea:
Celebrate local artists.
That means more than screening incredible independent short films.
It means showcasing music videos created by local filmmakers, highlighting local musicians, introducing audiences to actors, producers, editors, cinematographers, composers, animators, photographers, and creating a space where all of those creative worlds collide.
This reel features Ashlee—an actor and studio owner of the Dream Room in Ajax who appeared in a music video produced by our friends at Visual Redux.
Because that's what the Toronto R***e is really about.
Not just watching great work...Meeting the people who make it.
You never know who's sitting beside you.
Your next collaborator.Your next cast member.Your next cinematographer.Your next client.Your next friend.
That's the magic of bringing artists together in one room.
Whether you're into narrative films, documentaries, animation, horror, comedy, music videos, or simply discovering incredible local talent...
There's something for everyone at the Toronto R***e.
And everyone is welcome.
🎬 Support local artists.🎵 Discover incredible talent.🤝 Build meaningful connections.
Because the credits are just the beginning.

One of the best things about the Toronto R***e isn't just the films... it's the people you meet. ❤️🎬

One of our previous Official Selections, Gita G, screened her film My Best Friend at the Toronto R***e and has been part of our community ever since.

That's exactly what we hoped would happen when we started this showcase.

Filmmakers meeting filmmakers.
Artists supporting artists.
Friendships turning into collaborations.

So when we heard Gita is involved with Toronto's 54th Annual Chariot Fest, we knew we wanted to help spread the word.

If you're looking for something fun to do this July, check it out!

🎉 Chariot Fest 2026

What happened last night was exactly why we started Toronto R***e. ❤️🎬

To every filmmaker who trusted us with your work...

To every actor, crew member, composer, animator and creative who poured your heart into these films...

To every audience member who bought a ticket, laughed, gasped, applauded, voted, stayed for the Q&As, and filled the Madison Avenue Pub with incredible energy...

Thank you.

Independent film isn't just about what's on the screen.

It's about conversations between strangers that become collaborators.
It's about filmmakers finally seeing their work with a live audience.
It's about celebrating wins together, learning from one another, and remembering why we create in the first place.

Last night wasn't just another screening.
It felt like a community finding itself.

Congratulations to all of our Official Selections, and a huge congratulations to our Audience Choice Award winner Regan Stiles! Thank you to our amazing sponsors Visual Redux, Rebel CTRL, Port Horror Film Festival, Double The Pleasure, and Madison Avenue Pub for helping make the night so memorable.

They help decide who takes home the prize.
We’re incredibly excited to announce that our Audience Choice Award winner will receive a brand-new trailer for their short film, edited by our generous sponsor Visual Redux.

🚨 OFFICIAL SELECTION — TORONTO R***E 🚨

We're proud to announce RED FLAGGED as an Official Selection at the next Toronto R***e.

Directed & Shot by Mitchell Verigin
Written by Thomas Zaugg

Inspired by the controversy surrounding Red Flag laws in the United States and the tragic death of Breonna Taylor, RED FLAGGED is a gripping psychological thriller that asks an unsettling question:

What happens when good intentions collide with irreversible consequences?

Told through the eyes of ordinary people caught in an extraordinary nightmare, the film explores fear, accountability, and the devastating human cost when institutions get it wrong. Rather than offering easy answers, RED FLAGGED invites audiences to wrestle with difficult questions long after the credits roll.

This is exactly the kind of bold, thought-provoking independent filmmaking the Toronto R***e exists to celebrate.

Join us for an evening of incredible films from emerging filmmakers across Ontario and beyond.

🤖 OFFICIAL SELECTION — TORONTO R***E 🤖

We're excited to announce Artificial Innocence by Priska Hasler as an Official Selection for the upcoming Toronto R***e on Tuesday, June 30th!

As the world races toward an AI-driven future, Artificial Innocence asks one of the most unsettling questions imaginable.

A lonely sculptor creates AI companions to fill the emptiness in her life, carefully shaping their personalities and emotions in pursuit of the perfect relationship. But as her creations begin developing feelings of their own, the line between machine and humanity starts to disappear.

What follows is a chilling techno-horror story exploring loneliness, obsession, control, and whether innocence without empathy can become something truly terrifying.

Thought-provoking, visually striking, and deeply relevant, Artificial Innocence is exactly the kind of fearless independent filmmaking we're proud to showcase at the Toronto R***e.

🎬 Come discover tomorrow's filmmakers today.

🌲 OFFICIAL SELECTION — TORONTO R***E 🌲

What happens when reality begins to fracture... and you're trapped deep in the woods with nowhere to run?

We're excited to announce Regan Stiles' A Man in the Woods as an Official Selection for the upcoming Toronto R***e on Tuesday, June 30th!

This ambitious psychological horror-comedy follows a group of friends who venture into the wilderness for what should be a carefree weekend getaway. But after experimenting with psychedelic drugs, they begin to realize they're not as alone as they thought.

As perception twists and reality starts slipping away, the film pulls you into a clever circular narrative that's unsettling, hilarious, and impossible to predict.

This is exactly the kind of bold, original filmmaking Toronto R***e exists to celebrate.

🎬 Support the next generation of filmmakers before everyone else knows their names.

Every ticket helps support local artists while giving you the chance to discover incredible films, meet the filmmakers behind them, and vote live for your favourite film of the night.
