Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
— Helen Keller
This Thanksgiving weekend, we are reflecting on how truly blessed and thankful we are.
Back in July, we called on our friends, family, and community for support and the outpouring of love and generosity that followed has been nothing short of amazing. We truly would not be where we are today without each and every one of you.
Whether you donated big or small, bought raffle or 50/50 tickets, dropped off your empties, attended Bike Night, sent monetary donations, or gave used items for our sale thank you. A thank-you goes out to the generous people and businesses who donated raffle prizes we are so grateful for your kindness and support. You all know who you are, and please know a little piece of this van belongs to each of you.
As a family, we spent hours collecting and counting bottles, sorting through donations, and doing everything we could to make this dream a reality. Although we couldn’t attend Bike Night ourselves due to Easton being in the hospital, his sisters, aunt, uncle, cousin, and nana showed up and were absolutely overwhelmed by the love and support from the community that night. It truly touches our heart seeing friends from years ago step forward and support, and even more so the generosity of people we have never even met.
💛 Thanks to Lucky Motors, the accessible van was delivered this weekend just in time for winter and for our upcoming weekly appointments at SickKids and Kingston. No more stressful transfers, no more risk of falls or seizures during transport into the car. This van means safety, peace of mind, and accessibility when we need it most.
Although we haven’t fully raised the funds needed, we were able to make it work with the hope that we can continue to raise the remaining costs.
And the most important part? We have one very happy boy who now has his own “wheels to freedom.”
For us, “wheels to freedom” means so much more than just transportation. It means Easton can now safely and comfortably go out with the family. It means we can attend medical appointments without risky transfers or extra strain on his caregivers. It means dignity, independence, and the ability to enjoy quality time together without limits.
From the bottom of our hearts:
Thank you.
Thank you for believing in us, for showing up, and for helping us get here.
🍂 Wishing everyone a warm and happy Thanksgiving. 🧡
