Light Among the Dark

Low-key photography is something new to me. Trying to do this in an urban setting, I didn’t know what I could use to do this. Luckily, when I was at Westmount Square, I saw the sunlight shining on one of the buildings. I thought I could play with the camera settings to make it so that the entire building was dark, with the part of the building that had the sun on it to be bright.

Going from the Top of the Building to the Bottom of the Sky

Have you ever seen two trees on top of a building and thought of framing a photo of them with them being on the bottom left corner of the photo? I would not have thought of this if it wasn’t for this week’s 52 Frames challenge: Unusual Crop.
I was keeping an eye on what to use for the challenge when I saw the two trees. I would not have thought to see them on top of a building, so I thought of trying to frame a photo of them like this.

Any time I see a building with a clock on the top, I think of Back to the Future. If I see a road that leads up to it, I can’t help but think of having to get to 88 mph to catch a lightning bolt.

Montreal Comic Con 2025

I went to the Montreal Comic Con this year, and had my camera with me. I was busy on all three days, so I was able to get photos of two cosplayers.
Thank you to both cosplayers for both allowing me to take a picture of you and posting it online!
I still have a lot to learn, since I’m more of an urban photographer and haven’t taken many photos of people.

Coming here, I was hoping for a nice shot of water moving. The water had quite a bit of ripples today. I didn’t expect to see a small boat pass by with the wake visible behind it. I got more than I hoped for.

For this week, the theme for 52 Frames is Daily Ritual. For me, that would be coffee and walking. I went out, bought a coffee, and thought of taking a photo with the coffee cup. This spot seemed nice to take a photo of me holding the cup.
