Building Lines

What made me want to take this photo was the red box to the left. Settling with both the box and the building being framed like this, I took the photo and then haven’t thought about it. Now, looking at the photo, I started noticing more of the details. The combination of the light, shadow, and the lines (specifically the lines around the smaller bricks on the top one third of the photo) makes me appreciate the photo.

Snowed In Sewer Cover

When I’m looking around for what to take a photo of, one of the things I keep an eye out for is sewer covers. When I saw this one, I thought the amount of snow covering it would be worth taking a photo of.

The Sky’s Line

I passed by the Empress Theatre in Montreal, and had my camera with me. I was trying out a few different shots with my camera until I noticed an airplane flying over the building. Wanting to include both in one image, I settled with this angle.

Artists in Montreal’s Winter Art Expo is up. There are artists that are selling their work there as well. While I’m not selling any prints of mine, my entry “No Ice to Break” can be seen there.

Red

Something that I like is how sunlight can shine onto things, such as it is on the building in the background. When I see it, I try to get a photo of it.
As I was thinking of what to call this, I noticed the red curtain on the top left corner of the building in the background. I thought it would be nice to use something as small as this as the name, which could bring the viewer to look for what is red in the photo.

Layers of Buildings

As I was looking around for what I can take a photo of, the brightness of the coppery coloured building in the background caught my eye. Thinking that using the tree to the left would be a good thing to use to frame the photo, I went with taking it in portrait mode.

The Bench and the Sun

What drew me to taking this photo is how the sun looks and the sunlight that is visible throughout the snow.

.mtl had an event last week (Saturday January 25 2025), where we got together and went to take pictures. We started at the Bonaventure metro in Montreal, and ended up going to a bar. I've been in this area quite a few times, and it was nice having an event here where we got together as a group to take some photos!

Lines

Seeing the untouched snow on the bench with the lines on the area where one sits, it stood out to me. I took a photo at this angle, liking how it turned out.

I felt that taking a photo of the back of this light fixture would be something different.

I was walking around beneath two train bridges. Being under one, I thought it would be nice to include both of them while focusing on the one further from me.

This tree stood out from the trees around it. After taking several photos of it with different settings, I didn’t think the green would stand out as much as it did.

Shining Buildings

Like last week’s photo, I thought it would be nice to have another one where sunlight is reflecting off of buildings. While there are areas of shadow in this one, the bright sunlight is prominent.
