Yarmouth Town RCMP has charged a man with child po*******hy offences in Yarmouth.

On July 8, 2022, at approximately 12:20 a.m., Yarmouth Town RCMP responded to a complaint involving child po*******hy on Parade St. in Yarmouth. RCMP officers located child po*******hy on a tablet and arrested the owner of the tablet, a 37-year-old Yarmouth man. The tablet was seized and the man was transported to the Yarmouth Rural Detachment where he was held in cells.

On July 9, Yarmouth Town RCMP, Yarmouth Rural RCMP and Meteghan RCMP, executed a search warrant at a home in Beaver River, Digby County. During the search RCMP officers seized a number of cellular phones and electronic devices.

Anthony Earl George Corporong, 37, of Yarmouth, has been charged with Possession of Child Po*******hy. Corporong has been remanded into custody and will appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court today.

In Nova Scotia it is mandatory for citizens to report suspected child po*******hy. This means that anyone who encounters child po*******hy material or recordings must report it to the police. Failing to report suspicious activity and materials could result in penalties similar to failure to report child abuse set out in the Child and Family Services Act. The RCMP encourages citizens to be a voice for children who are victims of sexual exploitation by reporting any suspected offences to your local police or by using Canada's National tipline for reporting online sexual exploitation of children at www.cybertip.ca.
