Every family has quirks and weirdness. When my Mum died 40 years ago she had 8 rings and 4 daughters. Easy math. 2 rings each. Deciding who got which rings was done by rolling dice. I disliked the idea so much that I simply said I would take the 2 left at the end (Both have already gone to my daughter). I asked for the hole in the handle knife as seen above, minus the handle. The knife was made in Sheffield, UK, and I think was part of a set. It had an ivory handle which slowly broke down and created a hole which is how I knew the knife in my childhood. A crack began and eventually the handle fell apart. But it’s still the same.
My Mum Helen (Nellie), my three sisters Anne, Sue, Colette and I took turns wielding the knife and peeling thousands of potatoes.
As I welcome the end of 2024 and the beginning of a New Year 2025, I am going to get the knife sharpened and a new handle. Maybe with a hole in it.
Maybe not. It’s my knife now. Old, full of good memories. 💕

Sitting in a beautiful Canmore resort.

Three wonderful days have inspired many moments of gratitude.

On Saturday I was privileged to be the Marriage Commissioner for two truly beautiful souls, along side their family and friends.

My best friend was supposed to be the Marriage Commissioner.

This was the wedding he looked forward to so damn much.

Couldn't stop talking about it.

Sadly, cancer took him in July and stepping in for him was the most important promise and gift I could give him.

I married these beauiful souls this weekend.

In doing so I honoured my best friend, I did my absolute best. (Only one mistake)

We always keep our promises.

Grateful. My soul is full. I feel him with me. Aloha

Today's post is about love and commitment.

39 years ago, on a Saturday in Edmonton, Bryan A. Burt and I were married. It was a wonderful day surrounded by love, laughter, green beer, friends, family and full of joy.

Who would have thought that 39 years later, I could love him even more. Through celebrations and tears, with complexity and ease, and with a resilience we never could have imagined that we needed, I would do it all over again in an instant.

Love you forever my Nugglebabs.

Exactly 40 years ago we met at a New Year’s Eve basement in Castle Downs NE Edmonton. December 31st, 1984.

Today I had the privilege of marrying a beautiful couple

They were from the States and I shall call them D & D. (it was a secret elopement, so no couple photos yet!)

They had the most beautiful relationship and were stunning as we celebrated their love overlooking Moraine Lake.
