Is the current state of the clothing industry the result of covid? I would definitely agree that the pandemic may be part of the problem, even five years later. Workforces were decimated, leading to higher labour costs and materials cost.

Rather than be content with a natural sales/profit growth once things 'got back to normal' the majority of large businesses have been focusing on recouping every penny that they think should have been earned during that bleak time. On one hand, it's understandable. No one likes to lose money. On the other hand however, there is something a new mindset that is something worse than greed. Materials and workmanship continue to extremely sub-par but the end cost to consumers keeps rising.

A Redditor hypothesized that the coronavirus pandemic has led to a drop in the quality of clothing items.

"I was born with an open wound, and colors pouring from it. Don't call me brave or a martyr; I'm just a woman who learned to love even in the midst of pain. I am a brush, I am a scream, I am broken flesh and a burning spirit. I paint myself because I am the only thing I know with fury, with tenderness. And if anyone doesn't like it, don't look at me, because I didn't come to fit in, I came to be."

A youthful Martha Stewart in her modeling days...late 1950s/early 1960s.
~Stewart has been modeling since she was a teenager. At age 15, she appeared in a Unilever television commercial, and in Tareyton's "Smokers would rather fight than switch!" cigarette advertisements. She also had a contract with Ford Models, continuing to modeling throughout her college education.
~In 2023, at the age of 81, Stewart became the oldest cover model for Sports Illustrated's swimsuit edition. I thought she looked fantastic. Of course, Martha has a lot of eggs in many other baskets, and is a very productive woman, but you probably all know about that. 🤓

Orson Welles' two favorite women. His wife Rita Hayworth and his best female friend Marlene Dietrich. Marlene was a little jealous of Orsons new love calling her the "spanish hoofer"😉.
She later replaced Rita in Orsons famous "Mercury Show" and even lived at their house for a little while.

The film wasn't released until 1985, after she had already risen to stardom. Her first major Hollywood film was "Desperately Seeking Susan" in 1985, which helped establish her as a film actress.

My heart skipped a beat when I came across this gem last week at my favourite thrift and almost immediately put it in my cart. I drove around with it for awhile before finally leaving it for some small person to love.

This particular Sesame Street building is a replica of one made by Fisher Price that I had as a child in the 1970s. It was my most loved posession back then and I was heart broken to lose it in a house fire. I've always wanted to replace it, even all these years later, but I need an original.

If it wasn't for Sesame Street, The Electric Company, and Reading Rainbow I likely would not have become the good student that I was my entire life. 1970s era PBS programming was amazing.

In May 1953, actress and dancer Gwen Verdon was photographed in a whimsical and unexpected pose, lounging in a hammock while dressed in a stunning ball gown. The image, which captures her effortless grace and charm, showcases Verdon’s playful side, as she combines the elegance of a formal dress with the casual, relaxed nature of the hammock. This juxtaposition of high fashion and carefree leisure perfectly reflects Verdon’s ability to balance glamour with a down-to-earth spirit.

Known for her remarkable talent on both stage and screen, Gwen Verdon was a beloved figure in the world of dance and musical theater. Her performances in shows like *Chicago* and *Damn Yankees* earned her a reputation as one of the greatest dancers of her time. The 1953 photograph, however, presents a different side of the star—a woman comfortable enough to enjoy a moment of peace and relaxation while still exuding the kind of elegance that was characteristic of her public persona.

The photograph, timeless in its beauty, also speaks to the era's fascination with glamorous Hollywood stars. It presents a snapshot of a moment in Verdon's life where she was not just a dancer and actress, but also a woman with a sense of humor and individuality. It’s a striking visual that captures her versatility—not only as a performer but also as a person with an easy, joyful approach to life. Gwen Verdon's ability to shine in such a simple, yet sophisticated moment is a reminder of why she remains a cherished figure in entertainment history.
