It must be said. The Toronto police are knocking it out of the park with forensic genetic genealogy. The monster who attacked the 78-year-old woman is finally facing justice. She didn't live to see him get what's coming to him. May she finally rest in peace now that he will reap what he sowed. Exceptional work TPS

SOLVED!! The Vancouver Police Department has just announced Juan Rueda Salud, 68 has been charged in the 30-year-old murder of Muriel Lindsay. Investigators found Salud in Oaxaca in 2015, but were unable to have him extradited to Canada until yesterday, where he returned shortly after Muriel, 40 was killed on February 17, 1996. Two weeks before Muriel was to move into her own apartment in Vancouver’s West End, she was beaten to death in her rooming house on Comox Street, where she had lived for eight years (pictured below).
In a letter to her father shortly before her death, Muriel wrote how scared she was of another tenant in the boarding house—Juan Salud - who she called her “crazy neighbour” (below). In a letter written to Muriel’s mother after her death, her father Eric writes: “I cannot forgive myself for failing to alert the police about the death threat sworn at Muriel by her Mexican neighbor, Juan Rueda, who harassed her from the day he arrived in that city-owned house.”
In the months leading up to her murder, Muriel had been targeted and harassed. Her cat was stolen, she’d received bizarre anonymous letters, and someone had used her credit card to make strange donations and purchases.

Another incredible forensic genetic genealogy achievement. Toronto really does seem to be leading the way in Canada right now. What is it going to take to see more FGG solves on the West Coast? Thinking of the cases I examined in my 'Sweetheart's series'- Kimberly Gallup, Cheri Lynn Smith, and Melissa Nicholson, teens trafficked and murdered in Victoria- could all be candidates for this kind of investigation.

55 months and the nightmare drags on.  is . This remains UNRESOLVED. No, we don’t know that he’s dead. No, we don’t know that he’s alive. We DON’T KNOW. There is NO evidence of either. PLEASE, keep sharing his name and face. Someone knows something—they might not know that they know. Life has become unbearable. 💔
PLEASE, if you were in Victoria in January 2022 and you typically go for a walk or run in the mornings before work, think back to the mild morning of Jan. 10, 2022–especially if you run/walk in Fairfield, Gonzales or Oak Bay. You might have seen Ian the morning he disappeared. You may have a clue that could bring him home.
Here’s how he went missing:
Ian Indridson disappeared from his home in Victoria, B.C., in the morning of Jan. 10, 2022, not long after his 54th birthday. He left on foot in the middle of an episode of extreme anxiety and sleep deprivation. He’s about 5'11'' with a slim build and was wearing dark clothing and galoshes when he went missing. He wears glasses and has salt-and-pepper hair. He might have facial hair now and his glasses may be damaged. He's personable, resourceful, smart. He loves life, has the greatest laugh and will strike up conversations with ease. ❤️
PLEASE help us. There are no clues as what may have happened to Ian.
Please, don’t stop sharing his face and name far and wide. He left in the middle of a heavily populated residential area, at a time of day when people would have been getting ready to leave for work (likely between 7:15 and 7:50 a.m.).
Ian is a good person. He is loved. He deserves to be found. And his beloved Labrador Retriever is now very, very senior… she deserves to see her favourite human again. 🐕‍🦺🥺💔
