ELECTION UPDATE: Mark Carney has been named the 25th Prime Minister of Canada, and the Liberal Party will hold government for a fourth term in a row.
In the Cariboo, Conservative MP Todd Doherty will continue to be the Cariboo - Prince George’s MP in Ottawa.
Doherty led the polls with 17,051 votes, 60% of the total vote.
Clinton Emslie, for the Liberal Party, has come second with 8,235 votes, 29%.
Angie Bonazzo for the NDP, third, with 1,916 votes, 6% of the total;
And Jodie Capling for the Green Party had 500 votes, 2% of the total.
The Liberal Party will hold government with a marginal minority as of right now. The Liberals hold 165 seats elected or leading, with 43% of the total vote.
The Conservatives have 147 seats either elected or leading, with 41% of the vote. Conservative leader Pierre Pollievre is currently trailing by over two thousand votes in his Carlton, Ontario riding.
The riding has not been called just yet, but should Pollievre lose the riding, the Conservative Party can choose to pay Pollievre’s salary and keep him on as leader, and force a by-election.
The Bloc Québécois leads 24 seats as Québec is getting its votes counted, with 7% of the votes.
The NDP currently has 7 seats either leading or elected, with 5% of the vote. The NDP did not score enough seats to be able to form a coalition government with the Liberal Party.
Elizabeth May secured her seat, and the Green Party kept a single seat within parliament.
The advanced votes and mail-in ballots are still being counted, and could change the margins of the current Liberal minority.
