Here’s what you NEED to check before taking that first bite:
1) SUGAR: Watch out for those sneaky names like high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, or maltose. Too much sugar leads to weight gain, diabetes risk, and energy crashes. Aim for less than 10g per serving.
2) SODIUM (Salt): High sodium leads to high blood pressure. Processed foods can be loaded with salt, even when they don’t taste salty. Keep it under 2,300mg per day (or even lower if you have high BP).
3) FAT: Not all fats are bad. Go for healthy fats (avocados, nuts, olive oil) and avoid trans fats (listed as "partially hydrogenated oil"). Too much-saturated fat leads to clogged arteries.
4) CARBOHYDRATES: Carbs aren’t the enemy, but refined carbs (white bread, pastries) spike blood sugar and add inches to your waistline. Look for high-fiber, whole-grain options like ✅ High-Fiber Foods: Beans, lentils, sweet potatoes, vegetables, nuts
✅ Whole Grains: Brown rice, oatmeal, quinoa, whole wheat bread, millet
