In 2025 Eclipse celebrated its 30th anniversary.
I recently read that as few as 10% of companies reach this milestone…and in the fast-moving multimedia/visual industry I suspect the number may be even smaller.
This prompted me to ask…how on earth have does a business not just survive, but thrive, for three decades? What’s its “secret sauce”?
After much reflection I think that there are 2 core reasons:
(SPOILER ALERT)
1. Find a niche that is SO niche that there is simply very little competition. And think big because sometimes that niche is larger than it first appears. And sometimes that niche isn’t simply a unique product or service, it lies in your ability to go beyond, both practically and creatively, and do things that most companies simply cannot do affordably or efficiently without outsourcing. And then, above all, be really, really good at what you do.
2. Even more importantly, build an outstanding core team who love what they do and consistently over-deliver on tight deadlines…and sometimes tight budgets.
So that’s easy then.
To help illustrate who we are and what we do, I’ve put together this short “2025 highlight reel”.
And this year was not an outlier. This is a typical year for our team.
So who are we?
We are storytellers who are there at the first meeting, and press play at your event.
We are filmmakers who go wherever and whenever our clients need us.
We are editors and visual artists who craft compelling video content.
We are “infotainers” who create stunning presentations.
We are creative partners who work with clients and event producers and to deliver outstanding audience experiences.
Above all…we are a tight-knit team of professionals who truly love what we do.
Thank you to my extraordinary team and to the clients who have trusted us over the past 30 years.
And on that note: apparently fewer than 5% of companies make it to 40 years.
No pressure then.
